Many think media influence is more about surface and material things like hair, fashion and jewelry.

But if you look deeper, it’s gateway to culture and can shape how you see whole groups of people. Some of us know that first hand.

I wish more people viewed media this way. Much of research has been rooted in how media has a direct influence in policy, culture and social mores.

I know it’s also intentional. If people knew the amount of psychological manipulation was injected in their media I think people may actually break.

This framework is what gets me going as a critic! I love seeing people talk about TV/film this way because what we watch 100% shapes how we think and talk about things

The choices of any given project (and Hollywood in aggregate) are worth thinking through for those reasons!
