When I worked for Reason magazine during Trump's rise to power in 2016, I was explicitly forbidden by the editor in chief from writing about Trump's racism, or the violence and racism at his rallies.

It was a "sideshow," I was told.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Maybe the people of Greenland could change their name to Epstein Island? That way, Trump wouldn't want to talk about it anymore.

As I recall from reading World War Two history, old "General Winter" was instrumental in helping defeat the OG Nazis, too.

Trump now a tyrant restrained only by β€˜my own morality.’ We stop him with our own. | Will Bunch After a monumental week that changed America, Trump believes there is no limit on his powers. We can prove him wrong.

Will Bunch, Philadelphia Inquirer β€”"If the American Experiment dies, it will be because we didn’t stop the immorality of a white supremacy that calls Somali refugees β€œgarbage” and a patriarchy that mutters β€œf---ing bitch” as it murders a woman in ice-cold blood." www.inquirer.com/opinion/trum...

i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

Trump says he will force Venezuela to hand over millions of barrels of sanctioned oil, which the U.S. will sell off under his control.

Hello? This is naked extortion of a sovereign country. It’s far past time for Congress to grow a spine and rein in our tinpot dictator.

Among other crimes, Trump's invasion of Venezuela has irreparably damaged the heretofore-sterling legacy of the FIFA Peace Prize.

Georgia's department of labor doesn't seem to have heard that "remote work" is a thing; on their unemployment application, they refuse to accept "0" as the number of miles you commuted to your last job.

One thing to consider: in many states (possibly all of them, as I haven't checked) it's actually illegal for children to share a bedroom if they're of the opposite sex.

Self-declared sovereign citizens and their children are still subject to US jursidiction (despite their beliefs to the contrary), and therefore cannot be deported.

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof" basically means if cops see you committing a crime, you can be arrested. The only people on US soil who are NOT "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" are foreign ambassadors, their spouses, and others with diplomatic or sovereign immunity.

{sigh} During the autumns of 2008 and 2012, I got a lot of emails from people who thought I was on the Canadian Olympic diving team. THOSE emails were all very encouraging and complimentary.

If I get any misaddressed emails over this Blake Lively matter, I'm guessing they'll be a lot less nice.

Between Trump's threat to deport everyone who harvests our domestically grown crops, and his threat to slap a 20% tariff on everything imported, those of you who expect grocery prices to go down should brace for bitter disillusionment.

Random pointless thought: the English language needs a word to describe the feeling when you just got out of the shower, toweled off and put on clean clothes, and right this second, both you and your clothing are at the maximum level of cleanliness a living biological garment-wearing human can be.

I seriously wonder if George Santos isn't living a real-life political version of "The Producers" -- ran for Congress intending to lose so he could pocket those sweet sweet campaign contributions, but he managed to beat the odds and win, so now he's screwed.

Joe Biden has many flaws, but the reason I'm voting for him is simple: American democracy will survive a second Biden term. It will not survive a second round of Donald Trump.
