We had a crew of 8 working Saturday. We split the group with some working to repair the Sutter wall at 1.2 miles while the others continued clearing brush and fixing the tread. The Sutter wall is being held up by hardened oak which should last a while. We have now cleared brush and fixed the tread

The individual allegedly video recorded and took photographs and authorities allegedly have geolocation information which placed him 30 feet from the ignition point. 6837+ structures were destroyed, 1017 more were damaged, and 12 civilian fatalities. Separate from the Eaton Fire against the ANF

Fairy house with corral for bunnies along one of the hiking trails within the Crystal Lake Recreation Area. ๐Ÿ™‚ Much love this. One of the younger San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders built this. Habitat for Fairies. ๐Ÿ™‚ @trailbuilders.bsky.social

Yes, volunteers are put to work no matter how young or old, we need all the help we can keeping #hiking trails open at long as everyone goes home with no injuries, not even poison oak, though we often laugh when we shouldn't because poison oak isn't a joke, it's a reportable injury :)

Always empty your boots before putting them on! Waking up in the morning and looking for a toilet can wait a few seconds longer! :) :) :)

That is a volcanic plug, specifically geologists call that a volcanic neck. The web site is mistaken, though the majority geology there is sedimentary rock, it has volcanic plugs which is what that geologic formation is, it is not a mystery as the web site suggests. Mystery to the web site creator?

Remember when we were able to get our vehicles up South Mount Hawkins Road must have been 20 years ago. None of us thought to bring flashlights, and reading novels by the tiny small fire we made for that small coffee pot gave you a headache that you moaned about for hours in to the night.

Good to start early and hope they keep doing outdoor stuff -- and vote to save some of it from the fucking Capitalist fucking parasite elites

> Gale Dotton wakes from unconsciousness
> beside a dead body"

@fredhikes.bsky.social how many times has that happened to you while out in the world working for @glonvec.bsky.social ? No joke, it happens. :) :) :)

Brendy, the word "unconsciousness" is spelled incorrectly on your Amazon page.

Ryan Dacey? He is epic out there doing adventures on his bicycle, doing long distance and spending months away from other humans. He is disgusted with Facebook, I see, but thousands of us watch his adventures, I hope that he doesn't stop Facebook. We need to let him know that we count on his posts.

When you bicycle up the mountain with toilet paper for the toilets on your back, you know you're a dedicated Forest Service employee or volunteer :)

That fire break needs to have a dozer come and scrape, they isolated sections of the forest by doing ladder fuel removal, it looks like, and isolated canopies.

The toppled oak, I filled in the root system with soil from the hillside to see if that might help the oak survive over the coming years. It toppled after a rain, we could see it was going to go over, and it's otherwise healthy. #hiking people comment about it some times

When we handle human waste or dead animals, we handle them with consideration of the biological hazard, we do take precautions and some of us get annual training

Mt. Waterman trail above the clouds. Cleared all trees from 3 Points Trailhead to Twin Peaks 5 miles. Finally completed 30โ€ pine in the meadow, restored switchbacks at junction, cleared few other trees along the way. Crew also did some brush clearing on the overgrown section closer to the trailhead

"Pick up your poop." That is a good sentiment, we find human waste along hiking trails in the ANF often.

Got the Big Dalton #hiking trail signs glued, camped, painted, and re-installed! They could be cleaner but the new painted lettering looks much better, should last a year or two before needing to be done again. A check of the trail signs in the area found that others in the Wilderness Park need work

This is so, so wonderful, and thank you so much for doing this. I'm always stunned by the work that our Southern California fire fighters are capable of, the hard work to train to qualify, keep certifications, and do the job is truly stunning, and our fire fighters do it very good.

My son, being rugged :) Volunteer work clearing deadfalls off of Sout Mount Hawkins Road which is officially abandoned but is used by fire vehicles and to work on the L. A. County Sheriff radio repeater station, among other things

Fred used to show up with Earth First! patches on his back pack which gave the @forestservice.bsky.social employees pause for a few minutes. ๐Ÿ™‚But Forest Service people have read Edward Abbey's works also, they "bleed green" as much as any of us who enjoy #hiking trails -- and working to save forests

All of our volunteers are getting older and few younger people are taking their place. But also Fred, the water rescue work that you and the Glonvec rapid response people did was not wasted effort, you saved lives, you saved entire ecosystems, all of that good work remains despite what's happening.

And they have to take the chainsaws and everything else up and down the canyon, on their backs since they need their hands and feet for the trail.

Volunteers do some tremendous things.

Have you considered asking the Little T Hot Shots Greg S. to come and evaluate this for you and consider dropping it safely?

The Trailbuilders have worked with David on many occasions, he was always very dedicated. His death was a bit of a surprise.

San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders tackled a few fallen trees around the trails from Crystal Lake to Mt Islip. The trails are in great shape so now is the time to climb Mt Islip and enjoy gorgeous 360 degrees views. @fredhikes.bsky.social
