Mostly here to play Vintage and Legacy M:tG Fintech Product Manager living in the blighted hellscape of AZ. Up all hours of the night working for a company based in the blighted hellscape of the UK.
Won the vintage challenge last night with Jewel.
Have not been able to play magic lately so was nice to show back up and snag the win.
I like simulacrum synthesizer. People tell me it is bad, but I'm often told the lists I play are insane. May as well play what you like.
When / where? First I'm hearing of this event

Increase in Null Rods from Lurrus decks has me lean towards 2nd abrade main or by force in side for next time.
Still really liking Lurrus Breach with 2x PO. Unsure on Vault + Key but feels worthwhile
A+ move. I do it on a regular basis and occasionally text them after.
"That's sweet you two went out for coffee" etc
Nightmare inducing partnership
19.03.2025 00:02 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The first AZ vintage league I participated in was open decklist.
They quickly realized they should be closed back up again.
I just watched some pigeons fight over a Cheeto outside a QuikTrip in Phoenix.
I do somehow respect the winner more than the others.
Good game, well played.
Recorded a great match vs. Doomsday from the showcase yesterday

6-2 for 23rd place in the showcase challenge today.
I've continued experimenting with Grixis Lurrus and felt that with the uptick in PO and decrease in bowmasters, it was a good time for Ragavan to show back up.
Both my losses were to bowmasters.
Still really enjoying the deck
Dino ---> Out
Monkey <--- In
4-0'd the legacy prelim this morning so I have QPs to play one of the showcases this weekend.
Swords to Plowshares is still a good magic card
Futurama taught me that sometimes you have to do what you love, even if it's not a good idea
17.02.2025 20:50 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Played limited for the first time since New Capenna and went undefeated.
Turns out tutoring up Marketback Walker off Gearhulk and drawing 6 cards with it ends a lot of games.
Went hiking this morning and came upon this plaque reminding me I should play MTGO
23.01.2025 15:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Today marks one month of homelessness.
It's been a difficult transition, but during this time I've been able to see friends and family that I haven't connected with in many years.
I've been hiking a lot to recenter myself, and exercising again feels great.
Hopefully will be returning to MTGO soon
I've been on the road throughout California the past month or so.
In that time I've been approached four times by people about my license plate.
All of them have been fellow Persians also named Amir. Still waiting for the day when someone recognizes it from MTGO
The Enigma of Amigara Fault except it's merging onto I-95 during Thanksgiving traffic
28.11.2024 16:55 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0If you're responsible for cooking the turkey this thanksgiving, please spatchcock it.
Your friends and family will be surprisingly happy with the result.
EW takeaways:
Vintage: Grixis Inti
Legacy: Esper Control
I missed a big signal from my testing. Despite putting up solid results with each list, I was never able to 5-0 because I would fall asleep during a match at least once per league.
Working nights is tough and sleep deprivation catches up
I spent my 20s partying around NYC and mostly listening to house.
I'm not sure which came first though - did I go to places and party because of the music, or did I go to party and developed a positive association with the music?
What kind of shows would you say are popular around Portland?
Mushrooms and techno were a fundamental part of my life for many years
18.11.2024 05:27 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Psychic frog is great but I wanted to explore ways to make it even more broken. Turns out being able to dig through your deck aggressively while growing frog is pretty sweet.
It feels almost like a pseudo Dack Fayden that doesn't trigger opposing bowmaster.
Went undefeated through swiss (scooped rd 6) and died in top 4 with Grixis Inti Lurrus.
As a wise man once told me, "Open the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur"
Prepping for EW. I've been able to narrow down my vintage selection, but legacy remains wide open.
Jeskai is always a standby, but lately Bant has been on my mind.
Ability to pull ahead on mana with carpet / uro, veil for UB, Endurance for GY, FoV for forge, and chill for red feels promising
