Round to one of the lad’s places last night for a few drams, a cigar and a catch up.
Not a bad wee selection…..

Macallan and Springers are usually always gone before the release - it’s like the wee angels come down and whisk(y) them away before us mere mortals get a sniff…….. 👼 🥃

Probably the fruitiest dram I’ve had - I’d definitely buy one of these although it’s not available - only as a sample when we were at the distillery unfortunately. 🙁

Next up is the Royal Lochnagar, cask sample from 2001. 54.8% ABV 🥃

Very pleasant Mick, not had much before either, but it’s fruity on the nose, apples and pears, with a sweetness in the background.
Palette is good, cereals and toffee, slight spicyness. Finish is quite long, with an ongoing light spicyness.

Having a few of my miniatures tonight. Starting with a Cragganmore cask sample, 2001 at 54.6% 🥃

Hope so Mark, I’ve been doing a number of side by sides recently, opening the 80’s and 90’s bottles my dad gave to me. Been a few eye openers!

I Will confess it wasn’t my favourite back then, but not much was 🤣
Age has given me a better perspective on whisky 🥃

Picked up a couple of bottles of Glenmorangie 10 bottled in the 90’s to try……
Think I’ll do a side by side with the current bottling to see how it’s changed.

Been a long time since I tried Vegan cheese, I’d hope it’s evolved as it tasted rotten way back…..

“Would you like some Cheddarton vegan block on toast” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, not quite as appealing……

The Firkin bottlings are a cut above too IMO.

I think it’s cool Mick, I wish I had done it. I have tried a few times to start but don’t get past one night.
I had a list of all the bottles I owned, which after creating I immediately stopped updating. 🤷🏻‍♂️
My problem is my laziness when it comes to such things.

Not had much Braeval, but what I’ve had I liked 👍🏻

An eclectic set of drams at today’s tasting at the Belfry in Edinburgh. Clynelish / Brora - a journey through time. Some amazing drams (10 in total!) which gave a full spectrum of the evolution of this whisky, from 1972 onwards. A few that “weren’t my favourite” but very impressed overall 🥃

Continuing the #Bottlekill theme, trying to clear out those bottles on my shelves that I’ve been nursing for too long….. this time it’s the Longmorn 18yo. This drama took me by surprise, how much I liked it. Was my favourite at the Whisky Fringe festival a few years back. 🥃

Going to miss this one - a hand fill fiddich from 2021, bottled at 57.8 %
