Whisky and erm, Defenders. What could possibly go wrong?
Which one are you thinking of doing Mick?
08.11.2025 20:31 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Round to one of the lad’s places last night for a few drams, a cigar and a catch up.
Not a bad wee selection…..
Macallan and Springers are usually always gone before the release - it’s like the wee angels come down and whisk(y) them away before us mere mortals get a sniff…….. 👼 🥃
05.11.2025 21:18 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Cheeky wee Cragganmore in there 👍🏻
02.11.2025 19:07 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Always a winner 🏆
01.11.2025 21:41 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Probably the fruitiest dram I’ve had - I’d definitely buy one of these although it’s not available - only as a sample when we were at the distillery unfortunately. 🙁
01.11.2025 21:31 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Next up is the Royal Lochnagar, cask sample from 2001. 54.8% ABV 🥃
01.11.2025 21:29 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Very pleasant Mick, not had much before either, but it’s fruity on the nose, apples and pears, with a sweetness in the background.
Palette is good, cereals and toffee, slight spicyness. Finish is quite long, with an ongoing light spicyness.
Having a few of my miniatures tonight. Starting with a Cragganmore cask sample, 2001 at 54.6% 🥃
01.11.2025 20:51 — 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Hope so Mark, I’ve been doing a number of side by sides recently, opening the 80’s and 90’s bottles my dad gave to me. Been a few eye openers!
30.10.2025 17:11 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I Will confess it wasn’t my favourite back then, but not much was 🤣
Age has given me a better perspective on whisky 🥃
Picked up a couple of bottles of Glenmorangie 10 bottled in the 90’s to try……
Think I’ll do a side by side with the current bottling to see how it’s changed.
Didn’t take me that long Mick 🤣
25.10.2025 07:45 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Club night at Robbie’s drams, The Glendronach - looks like it’ll be a good night with loads to sample! #Whisky 🥃
24.10.2025 18:04 — 👍 10 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Loving that bottle Cliff. Contents sound pretty good too! 🤣
23.10.2025 07:34 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Been a long time since I tried Vegan cheese, I’d hope it’s evolved as it tasted rotten way back…..
“Would you like some Cheddarton vegan block on toast” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, not quite as appealing……
The Firkin bottlings are a cut above too IMO.
23.10.2025 07:28 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I think it’s cool Mick, I wish I had done it. I have tried a few times to start but don’t get past one night.
I had a list of all the bottles I owned, which after creating I immediately stopped updating. 🤷🏻♂️
My problem is my laziness when it comes to such things.
990? That’s impressive Mick!
I haven’t bothered counting tbh, I’m not sure if I’d be higher or lower….
The Fiddich vat 03 is a great dram for the price Pete
20.10.2025 18:59 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Always have a bottle of the 10yo Glenmorangie open on the shelf. Here’s to your Dad Brian 🥃
19.10.2025 22:01 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Not had much Braeval, but what I’ve had I liked 👍🏻
19.10.2025 21:59 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0An eclectic set of drams at today’s tasting at the Belfry in Edinburgh. Clynelish / Brora - a journey through time. Some amazing drams (10 in total!) which gave a full spectrum of the evolution of this whisky, from 1972 onwards. A few that “weren’t my favourite” but very impressed overall 🥃
19.10.2025 21:57 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Anyone for tea?
Not had one of these for ages. Glengoyne Teapot Dram, batch 7.
And another gone. #Bottlekill
The Loch Lomond 150th open edition. I do have another couple of these stashed away tho 😊
Stunning 🤩
18.10.2025 19:47 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Continuing the #Bottlekill theme, trying to clear out those bottles on my shelves that I’ve been nursing for too long….. this time it’s the Longmorn 18yo. This drama took me by surprise, how much I liked it. Was my favourite at the Whisky Fringe festival a few years back. 🥃
18.10.2025 18:54 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Going to miss this one - a hand fill fiddich from 2021, bottled at 57.8 %
Been putting off the bottle kill for ages it’s so nice. 🥃
