YIMBY and abundance are good, but need to be combined with billionaire wealth taxes and antitrust. Success is good, monopolist oligarchs are bad.

You think Alito or Thomas care about facts at this point? All three branches are past committed to the cause to turn back absent a macro shock to get things back on track.

Clear and Present Danager is literally happening now though. These guys read it as teens and think this is like how the world should actually work...

This thread seems to be going in a direction that might lead one to think laying off tens of thousands of employees might not be the repeatable and growing profit driver the stock market seems to think it is...

Voted for her and would again, but even setting aside the rampant sexism and racism that made things harder for her, I think most voters just want someone new and ideally who won't let the consultants muzzle the "they're weird" (and worse) attacks.

The takeaway from 2024 was that the public has a massive distrust of slippery politicians to the point they embraced the guy who just nakedly lies bc he seemed more authentic. "Centrists" chasing every poll and having no actual convictions is 180 degrees the wrong response.

That is why it is a GOP loss. They change the rules to pass the CR without fixing the ACA issues and then they really own those issues. Which is probably still better overall than starving 1 in 8 Americans.

Yhea this poll presupposes that Harris got through a primary, which screems "party/elite control over the process". That probably negatively polarized things for some non-trivial number of respondents that are really expressing that they don't want her to run again.

Amazon reportedly laying off 30,000 more corporate workers. That should help even things out, maybe not in a positive direction....

Republicans opening the govt unilaterally and then owning 100% of the ACA increases after Dems showed they went to the mat for them is a not bad outcome for the country. But will be awful for a lot of voters and the GOP's prospects.

I followed him a couple years back because he was postinf fairly heavily as a China Hawk. I do wonder if that drew him into some of the further RW cesspool accounts and he started chasing that engagement?

I waver, I still think land acknowledgements and a lot of performative "woke" is counter productive and that developers building more housing is good, but at this point I am willing to set most of that aside to join forces with any leader that wants to tar and feather billionaires.

Possible that wealthier blue cities are going to be able to patch together food bank and other local efforts that will reach farther than red rural areas can. But it is going to be held together with duct tape and very decentralized.

We were all just noting the odd flood of pre-Halloween holiday shoping ads during the football games this weekend. Feels wildly early and reeks of retailer desperation. Thanksgiving also falls late this year, which should add to the panic.

Christ was definitely against feeding the poor, second only to his semons on fearing the stranger among us. So get on board fools cause we are going to be one heck of a Christian nation!

Whoever is overseeing him made sure he threw a national security reference into the tweet. Still not hopeful that SCOTUS will choose the issue he campaigned on in his "landslide" victory as the place to finally get a backbone.

No pardon will undo it if they break and turn their guns on themselves while halfway deep into a bottle of booze. Keep laying the anger on them till they break. No violence against them, but let them burn themselves out from the inside.

Drones are also very easy to use within the US. The first data center that has a swarm come in through the roof I'm sure will do good things for the AI bubble. We are such a wildly soft target if Trump provokes asymmetric fighting. Playing with fire he doesn't understand.

I still think that a sports books experience at a limited number of tribal outlets beyond Vegas is probably fine if you have to drag yourself there to play. But like everything, it is the tech bros that turned the toxic knob to 11.

Taxing land isn't going to do much if you still zone it to be underused, impose impact fees and have dumb dual stair building codes. Better to fix the reasons people don't build than punish them for not building.

Thanks, that makes sense and seems like another reason to stay at Fidelity or Vanguard over the Robinhoods. Shocker that "free" isn't really free.

It isn't even close at all to the primary. That is what is so insane to me. Vote blue no matter who compared to a MAGA I'd understand in the general election maybe, but not over a year out!

Why would that be a sign of retail froth though? Wouldn't retail trading be the most likely to go over proper exchanges?

What would they be taking for the team? Is there some massive criminal violation for disclosing what is in them (like a Top Secret file one might keep in a bathroom)? There are enough people out there that can say what is in them it baffles me nobody has talked yet??
