Not against the idea. It does seem like the sort of project we should be able to accomplish with sufficient political will. Might give the local industry something to do other than just building and/or assembling licensed APCs.

Hadn't heard of the Saur 2 project in a while. Apparently the reason it wasn't picked up: insufficient protection levels. The Romanian army eventually went for the Piranha V. Now they're floating around the idea of reworking the amphibious transport into something up to date.

This non-invasive research was also applied to Neamț Fortress, making it the only medieval fortification in Moldova with a LiDAR scan.

In addition LiDAR scans were conducted at the "Piatra-Neamț – Bâtca Doamnei" archaeological site, home to a significant Dacian-era settlement.

The answer is from a safe distance, preferably with something separating you and the bear. The Carpathian brown bear is a dangerous animal. Romania also has a significant wolf population, but you're far more likely to get attacked/killed by a bear. Wolves tend to stay away from humans, bears don't.

From what I've seen "violent clashes" is a bit of an exaggeration. There was some shoving between some people there and the gendarmes, but things are under control at the moment.
