Our 3rd manifesto ask is to use planning legislation to rule out new renewables and storage developments that donโt provide shared ownership or community benefit funds at a fair level. โ๏ธ
Planning decisions on projects up to 50MW are devolved, and Scotland should be using these powers. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
Ask #2 is to use public land to boost community energy. ๐
When new leases are issued for repowering windfarms, community energy companies should have โfirst dibsโ.
We could meet the target (๐) by transferring 1/3rd of the renewables on public forestry land into community hands.

Our first ask is a target: ๐ฏ 1GW of community-owned energy by 2030.
That's 10x higher than now. Ambitious? Yes, but achievable.
