It was jarring on 1st watch - “who tf are these new people???” - but it’s majestic on rewatch. Probably my 2nd-favorite season.

Point is that you can’t use general election performance (or general election polling) to determine how conservative Dems view a NYC mayoral candidate. I lived there for over a decade - a lot of Dems in NYC only vote in the primary!

The proper comp is how Mamdani performed in the Democratic primary relative to Adams in 2021. Mamdani scored 56% of the vote after ranked-choice; Adams in 2021 only clocked 51%.

And again, Mamdani’s performance was against a former governor.

You’re comparing apples to oranges: Mamdani is running against the incumbent, the former governor, and a Republican in a general election. Neither Diblasio nor Adams had that stiff of competition.
