Cloud tank shenanigans yesterday with a great crew of friends for our Space Worm short, now titled DREAD PLANET. The titular planet was fabricated by me, airbrushed by Shane Morton. First time ever experimenting with these techniques and the shot turned out SO SICK.

Completed Shin Godzilla commission!! Main inspiration was the work of Yuji Murakami - my favorite Godzilla artist, like, ever - but then when I realized I needed to add in the cityscape to balance out the composition I turned to the Ohrai Godzilla '84 poster for reference. Love how this turned out.

Genuinely it is such a fantastically made scifi movie on its own that I get SO irritated reading all the Letterboxd reviews that seem to just treat it like homework cuz it influenced the creation of ALIEN.

I need you all to know how much I am completely obsessed with this movie. It completely rewired my brain chemistry and now I literally think about it daily. When we made the space worm short a couple weeks ago, all I was thinking about was this, Bava's other SciFi thing CALTIKI, and Super Metroid.

Yeah I've seen pretty much every mainline franchise entry excluding the English language pair and most of Trigger cuz it was so bad I dropped it. New Gen shows in general have taken to treating monsters and aliens with a much more empathetic lens, which I really enjoy.
