Let’s get lit

It seems so fundamental but it’s so rare to experience: see people, value them, invite them in.

We recently had a former employee return as our CPO. In the last few weeks, this guy has helped my career confidence more than any single person ever has. He’s asked me lots of questions about how we’ve done stuff so he’s not rocking the boat, kept me in the loop, and validated my knowledge.

If I was meeting you I’d dig this look!

Sleeping until I wake up. Shuffling around to make some tea and a bagel while I functionally wake up. Getting ready and then driving around to leisurely explore some shops or sights. Discovering treats. Home to relax with a book or craft.

Connor’s on my bed. When I came out of the bathroom he patted the spot beside him and said, “I want you right here.” Okay well if I must! 🥰

Also what if my whole tone is rude but everyone knows I don’t mean it to be rude TOWARD them

I showed Connor his new monster truck comforter that came in, and he hugged me and said “best mommy” 😭😭😭😭

My friend is a high school teacher, and she started a “Sparkle Squad” with her students. They go to a local nursing home and do nails and makeup for residents. Smashed the buy button on her wishlist so fast 😂

So great for the residents, and students can explore an interest in cosmetology.

I have done an insane amount of work to heal and make progress this year, it’s really amazing. But it has revealed a huge amount of layers that need addressed.

Thankfully, I am getting good at remembering to ground and focus on what’s right in front of me when I get overwhelmed.

That is full on “feature, not a bug” 😂

Ernie’s going to be on his way home tomorrow! And I suddenly have senioritis because I’m tired and sad and don’t want to function but I have to. I just want snugs and sleep.

When Ernie comes back I feel like I should take a trip and go visit someone. Who wants me? 😆

I am SO proud of my little nerd! Connor is flipping through an alphabet book that has Marvel characters in it. He saw Peter Quill and said, “Who is this guy?” I said, “That’s Peter,” and he said, “Is that Peter Parker?” 😍 he is only 3!

How’m I doing? Well, Ernie is gone for over a month and my mom has pneumonia. I’m sure you can extrapolate from there.

Cass is being silly while doing his homework. I told mom, “Yeah, you know what they say about having a kid that’s just like you.” Cass laughed so hard he had a coughing fit 😂

Casson gave me an unenthusiastic hug at drop off so I made him put both arms around me and give me a kiss 🥰 Gotta get some lovins out of this parenting thing!

Friend bought glittery boots for an event but didn’t like how they fit. I sent her a pic of mine and said she could borrow them. She’s cackling over having glittery boots waiting in my closet but she knows she should have expected it!

I made Cass read the popcorn instructions today 😂 he asked me how long to put it in the microwave for and I was genuinely excited to have him read all of the steps and think about it and execute! It’s so fun to watch him learn

Thanks. He’s missing our anniversary and my 20th class reunion, among other things. Plus the pressure of the day to day, AND my job.

We found out last week that Ernie will soon have to take an international trip and be gone for 5 weeks. Totally blindsided. I’m scared for my mental and physical health. His 2-week trips had me barely hanging on. But he has to go, so…

It was so nice to spend time outside with people I love doing something outside the norm! It helped to tire the boys out too lol. I’m medicated and hoping for good luck falling and staying asleep and being rested to start off the week.

I slept awful last night because I knew that today would be really long AND Ernie left for his umpteenth work trip.

Had a good day but very tiring. My besties and I took Mom and all of our kids fishing for Mom’s birthday, because she’s wanted to take Cass since last summer 😂
