Depending on the damage might be worth seeing if a data recovery service can help? Could be worth the cost for the time it'd take to put your collection back together.

Nick Clegg being a shit over artists rights

The latest in a long line of terrible humans seeing if they can destroy people lives before asking if they should. If only sociopaths were seen as bad instead of rewarded.

Sometimes sound design is a carefully crafted atmosphere, and sometimes it's parking a van in front of the generators to block the noise.

A screenshot from Reaper, a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) application. There are hundreds of blocks in a rainbow of different colours, each representing a different audio clip. There red and blue vertical lines dividing the screen into the different scenes of the play and lines that have been recorded.

For Biting Point we have two actors, but closer to two dozen characters. We've recorded about 260 lines of dialogue for all the other people in John and Anita's lives. If you're a @middlechildhull.bsky.social fan some of the voices might feel strangely familiar. www.middlechildtheatre.co.uk

Krapp’s Last Tape review – Gary Oldman’s arresting one-man Beckett is a startling piece of theatre Oldman gives an emotional encounter with his past selves as he single-handedly directs, set-designs and performs Samuel Beckett’s existential monologue

Earlier this year I worked on a project with Acomb Library here in York, telling stories from local history with folks from the community. I'd missed the memo, but it's now been uploaded and you can listen to it. It's called History Misbehaves: Time Travel Radio, and it's about 30 minutes long.

An image of two audio waveforms; one at the top on a green background, and one below on a red background. The top waveform has a very noticeable peak where the microphone has been knocked during recording. In the lower waveform this peak has been completely removed leaving the audio clean.

iZotope RX really does still feel like magic sometimes. I was recently sent a voice recording, just the one take, with a pretty hefty mic bump partway through. Little bit of polishing and spectral repair and as good as new. Anyway the short version is I'm a wizard.
