tbh I sometimes think it is a little bit the fault of Obsidian's own fans, because the fans also will just not let New Vegas go

I liked the first game because it captured the vibe of Firefly, not because it was Fallout in space. The sequel seems to disagree. Completely ejected the Firefly vibes and tried to make it even more New Vegas. I'm one of the three people who thinks this made it worse, not better.

I don't understand anyone.

I mean, Firefly, the #1 inspo on OW1, had factions (alliance, niska's gang, badger's gang) but while the crew often finds themselves riding the waves of the various factions, they don't CARE about their politics. They care about two things: (1) Need money for gas (2) Fuck the alliance.

Out of the 3, I felt the most positively about OW1. Avowed was very okay, but I completed it. OW2 I just felt bored. I genuinely thought the first game was about lovable browncoats vs cartoon villain corpos, but OW2 says no it was about political factions. Guess that was my mistake.

I really liked OW1 but the murder mystery DLC was not my favorite. I found it a bit of a slog. I think it is possibly for those roleplayers who want to do more talking than anything, which I'm fine witht hem having that, even though it was less for me. I recall liking the other DLC better.

The analogy I keep coming back to is OW1 is the original Star Wars. A little bit campy. Colorful personalities. Pulp comic adventure. OW2 is the phantom menace. The costumes are colorful but the personalities are bland and you're hearing a lot about the senate resolution on hyperlane trade routes.

Im with you. Having a hard time with all the reviews saying it's better. Cant jam all my thoughts in 1 skeet, but the 1st game was an upbeat & warm homage to Firefly with outstanding characters and a brave voice. 2nd game feels bureaucratic, expository, like it wishes it was a different game instead

The first game was a pastiche of and homage to Firefly, including most of the companions, and did not take itself seriously. OW2 is torn between its assignment to be a sequel to OW1 and its desire to be a completely different, more serious, more generic space merc RPG. As a result, it's mid.

I can vouch for both E33 and Hell Is Us being great games. They are both extremely emo from start to finish, but they also both dare to be weird, and I love that. E33 is the only game that has ever come close to doing Final Fantasy X again, but it's a very very emo FFX.

You can instantly raise my review score on any game if the protagonist, or any member of the protagonist's party, is a sort of warrior grandma and it's not a joke.

I think the visibility challenge for bsky will be less about trying to play chess with the singular algorithm and more about creating and joining networks and connections, but that is just my guess

It's worth noting that this also means you should be able to employ your own moderation rules along with your own algo for your feeds. All of this will probably require someone with the technical chops to help with that, but with the way bsky is setting all of this up, you will have a lot of control

and that feed could have its own algo, and you could encourage people to just add your entire feed instead of only subbing to one account. There are things about bsky that are really neat and powerful that twitter refugees seem to still not quite get, but the future promise of them is interesting

That is not THE algorithm that everyone must use. People can even hide the disco tab. Users can create their own feeds with their own algorithms. Instead of asking users to simply subscribe to your account, you could theoretically create your own feed (esp. if your company runs multiple accounts)

The weirdest thing for people to understand about bsky is that it's not JUST bsky.social and bluesky does not necessarily control everything like Twitter. Bsky is not "algorithm free" but is instead "algorithm neutral". So what this means is that, while bsky does run its own algorithm on discovery..
