Last year's substantial influence of Blackhat over DefCon in tandem with the insane entry cost caused me to decide to not attend this year. I miss the community, but I will not miss the corporate kiosks at "DefCon".

Hopefully this year is better, but I suspect it's just going to be worse.

I don't disagree, and it is situationally dependent. During the majority of the US empire's "GWOT", there was rapid evacuation and medical resources. In places where that is not the case, TQ application needs to be a more thoughtful decision.

In situations where proper response/removal can't be done within 2 hours, tqs being applied unnecessarily can cause more harm than good. It is situationally dependent. However, this is an example in which the "just put on a TQ" mindset isn't necessarily wise.
