I forgot to ask, what distro are you rocking? I know it varies based on your system but always good to get opinions from all over the place.

I own a Series X and I am not excited for anything they have to say anymore. After the disastrous last few years, Microsoft has axed all their Xbox good will. The Game Pass price hike was the last straw for me and made me, an original subscriber, drop it. That ecosystem is dead at this point.

Clinical evaluation of a machine learning–based early warning system for patient deterioration Background: The implementation and clinical impact of machine learning–based early warning systems for patient deterioration in hospitals have not been well described. We sought to describe the implem...

"These findings should be interpreted with caution because of the potential for unmeasured confounding."

This system wasn't nearly as effective as the news articles made it out if you actually read the study. There are also large conflicts of interest, see Footnotes.

They also brought up privacy concerns that will need to be addressed as perhaps not everyone wants this fed into a blackbox. Could it help, sure but I don't think it's ready for primetime yet.

Can AI predict when you're about to die? New Canadian tech prevents unexpected hospital deaths, study finds | CBC News A year-and-a-half-long study on Chartwatch, an artificial intelligence system in use at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, shows the tool led to a striking 26 per cent drop in the number of unexpected...

"Our study was not a randomized controlled trial across multiple hospitals. It was within one organization, within one unit"

"So before we say that this tool can be used widely everywhere, I think we do need to do research on its use in multiple contexts."

That's what excites me most as I've always been the "tech guy" who'd have to fix everyone's computers growing up so I'll be stepping into the time machine again but for myself this time πŸ˜„

I'm sure this will totally help Hamilton's efforts with their LRT, assuming they ever build the damn thing. I was graduating highschool (2007) when it was first proposed and now live in Edmonton (2025) and it won't be running till 2032 at the earliest... Talk about fumbling the bag.

I've made it my personal goal for 2026 to finally make the leap and dual boot my Windows desktop with Linux. I dabbled with Ubuntu in the early 2000s but Microsoft has gone too far these days. I need to keep Windows for certain programs but the Linux siren song is calling to me.

There would still need to be boatloads of parking as they have to go somewhere to charge during down time. They'd also be driving around aimlessly with no one in them just waiting to pick someone up which clogs the roads on top of this. They're a nightmare all around and not worth having.

You completely lost me on this in the first highlight "or use AI in healthcare". I'm sorry, but we should NOT be allowing that trash into our healthcare system in any capacity. And no offence, but a large chunk of this reads as "move fast and regulate after the damage is already happening".

Alrighty children, settle down, I was merely posting my quite chilly Edmonton temperatures as a gag. Celsius, Fahrenheit, who cares anymore. Water under the bridge. We're all filth on this planet πŸ˜†

Is the baby gonna cry? Maybe go ask your LLM for a bedtime story to soothe you to sleep tonight. You really do have a humiliation kink, it's kinda surreal.

Calls Bluesky users "truly awful" proceeds to tell the person that told them their joke came off as an implied go hang yourself to "fuck off". So tolerant and not awful πŸ˜† You're something else man.

"Get a red velvet rope" while leaving it on a ... sure buddy, whatever you wanna tell yourself to sleep at night you absolute hack πŸ˜‚ People like you have zero shame it would seem. Feels like you've got a humiliation kink as you're getting dragged in this post, as you should be.

And writing is clearly not what you're doing either as everything is AI slop with this outfit. You should delete yourself off the internet and stop filling it with more AI trash.

There's a sick irony to you folks writing about dystopian AI facial recognition while creating blatant AI slop for all your article graphics. Could you be any more tone deaf?

Not a single Edmontonian should be welcoming this trash in our city. That guy saying he's cool with it if it helps the cops is an idiot, full stop. This should be banned immediately. The moment you get mismatched with this is when it turns into a true nightmare.

Hope so too for your sake. The high floors here are pretty solid despite their age. I honestly like the old school train cars myself and you can clearly see the traffic control arms dropping well in advance as they approach. There's a spot by Kingsway where the Metro slows but it's not that bad.

07.12.2025 04:13 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The city describes it as "The lights are designed to adapt to real-time traffic conditions, helping to ease congestion. The priority here is keeping the LRT on schedule, which sometimes means momentarily disrupting the regular traffic light cycle." I use the Metro/Capital mostly which have priority.

07.12.2025 04:03 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Considering how car-brained Edmonton can be their LRT gets signal priority so perhaps Toronto could take some notes πŸ˜† Watching suckers having to sit in traffic is viscerally satisfying as I pass on by.

I'm in the process of trying out the Transit app more myself but it's hard to stop using Google Maps as I have all the muscle memory along with custom pins and lists of saved places that I do really enjoy.

A screenshot of the South Campus Ft. Edmonton Station in Edmonton from Google Maps. The LRT stop has campus spelt wrong as "Camputs" and you can clearly see all the other points around it spelled right.

I have been at war with Google Maps trying to fix this ridiculous spelling mistake for the South Campus (not Camputs) LRT station and they will not accept my edit. I'm literally considered a local guide due to my contributions over the years. Just automatically gets denied every time!!!

This is so bloody evil and sick you'd think it was an Onion article, too farcical even for the most dystopian fiction but it's real and wow, just wow. Everyone involved in this deserves nothing on this mortal plane. No love, no remorse, no empathy. These are depraved people.
