It can exist on more of a knowledge basis. To go with a slightly different food metaphor: I know what foods I like even when I'm totally full, it doesn't make me hungry to see something tasty. But if I'm neither hungry nor full then seeing a croissant might flip the switch to me Wanting to eat.

Her speech is also jauntily angular and features an open-mouthed bird with two exclamation points. Panel 4: "The Yowl" Inkling is shown in profile, head back, mouth open, fangs sticking out of her maw next to a spikey speech bubble with the word 'yowl' drawn in jenky sketchy lines overlapping each other unevenly. There's an arrow pointing below the frame of the panel labeled "Empty Food Bowl" because this cat believes she has never been fed in her life. Panel 5: "a!" Cipher lays on the ground, staring up at the camera with big baby eyes while she tucks her front paws adorably in front of her chest. There's a large speech bubble that takes up most of the rest of the panel. Very small and in the center of the bubble is a lowercase a and exclamation point. So much effort, so little sound. Panel 6 is small and squished to the side, labeled with an ellipses and featuring Inkling looking at the camera shiftily, her head tilted back as if she's preparing for some evil. Panel 7: "The Pacer Beep." Inkling's form has become noodly and squiggly as she's opened her mouth into a big, narrow O, head still tilted back. Across the width of the panel and breaking out of it is an extended "BEEEEEEP". Behind the beep and the cat is the opening script used in the Pacer Test.
