Proud of this b&w photo I took tonight on a date with my wife.

My friend @ianharber.bsky.social is a great writer. Sharing his latest essay from @mereorthodoxy.bsky.social's Substack. The vision he casts here for father-scholars is something I'm trying to pursue myself in my own current readings. Grateful for his work!

Took a grainy b&w picture of the moon this morning at work. It was so surprising in a beautiful way to see it shining down on me through the window above my cubicle.

Inspired by @aows.co' black and white photography. Very good work. Reminds me of @ansel-adams.bsky.social's works.
Here's a b&w photo I took of Mt. Princeton a couple of years ago. I'm thinking about taking more photos in black and white this year.
Another thought-provoking essay by Terry Godier (@tg@indieweb.social on Mastodon) on how the actual design of our podcast interface is wanting. How could it be different? Visually thought provoking, too. I am eager to see what he is working on.

Watched [Train Dreams](www.imdb.com/title/tt2976...) yesterday, and really enjoyed it. The cinematography was so good. The stylistic direction of this film reminded me of Terrence Malick's [A Hidden Life](www.imdb.com/title/tt5827...). The film score was incredible. Loved the Nick Cage song, too.

These posts are my first go-round in blogging probably since… well, xanga honestly. I wrote about this feeling of learning out loud last week (aaronjz.bearblog.dev/learning-out-l…). Receiving feedback is helpful motivation to keep writing, keep revising, and finally – share. So thanks for reading.

Tried to flesh out more of what I was feeling & thinking in that initial passthrough. Hope it resonates. aaronjz.bearblog.dev/presence-time/

That's a good way of putting it. Yes, it seems Mastodon still has some good flexibility with other interfaces mapped onto it. But I agree with you, the out-of-box experience feels a little too DIY for my taste. I'm a Mac guy, so maybe that says more about me than the average Mastodon user.
29.01.2026 18:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I just joined in a Mastodon server just out of curiosity, and wow I do not enjoy the UI of Mastodon. It feels duct-taped together. I much prefer the UI experience of Bluesky, and the community aspect feels much more engaging here.

This interoperability is so cool! I love seeing the practice of distinction and harmony, unity in diversity, coming together like this.

About that bug, I also noticed a bit of an odd issue highlighting with the Readwise plugin. It might be related to what you're mentioning here.
It was so cool to see BlueSky profiles showing easily. Great job overall!

This is inspiring to me! Excited about @offprint.app!

I have actually determioned to using Bluesky as my main social media interaction recently, as well. I don't have many followers/friends on here, which is fine. But I admire the AT Protocol way of doing things as opposed to all other social media. Glad to see you making the switch, too.
