Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

Sometimes though, there is no plan other than “make this look cool”, and that can be a really exciting opportunity for creatives.

It all boils down to short design and frankly, the taste of the director.
Cg artists are just doing as they are directed. (With that said we still creatively contribute where it’s appropriate)

To me at least, our work looks best when we base as much of the digital elements in reality as possible. We take great care animating the camera, making it feel heavy and practical. There are soo many shot that have a hand animated cgi camera that feels entirely practical
