He has kept among us in times of peace Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power. He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution & unacknowledged by our laws.

The amount of people who genuinely think this level of corruption is normal but Trump is just honest about it is insane.

Especially when you’re complaining about one person and making a generalization about every other person who’s understandably concerned

You’re telling me that people are more concerned by a major network television show hosted by a well known star getting canceled seemingly to make POTUS happy than a talented yet less well known news presenter being replaced? I get the point you’re trying to make but the comparison is disingenuous

I personally really liked SNW season 2 because it really captured the spirit of Star Trek while still maintaining a good show. TOS and 90s Star Trek had a ton of “silly” episodes. But in SNW those episodes weren’t just filler like in older series

I understand that and fully agree with campaigning against the genocide but jumping to calling him a fascist dictator made the few people saying that seem nonsensical and hurt the whole movement. You lose a lot of credibility when you say inflammatory stuff like that even if the larger point is true

You literally said “American democracy isn’t collapsing” because it never even existed. That’s dismissing all the concerns people have. You’re dismissing all the serious harm being done right now to the basic democratic principles in this country by acting like they never existed in the first place

I’m not even arguing with that. I’m arguing with the smug dismissal of people’s concerns about the future of the country with “well the current system sucked anyway”. It achieves nothing besides making people like you feel superior

I never claimed they were good. I’m just tired of the false equivalence. Acting like both parties are the same is why we’re in this situation to begin with

Obviously it’ll be about how the left should have shown up to his parade to show support for the military. And that not doing that lends to the idea that democrats are weak. Meaning it’s actually democrats who look bad because of this. They should have made it a moment of bipartisan patriotism

A good chunk of the online left is convinced that they shouldn’t have to convince anyone of anything. That if you don’t immediately agree with them wholeheartedly then you’re the enemy. So the response you’re getting isn’t surprising

That’s not really true. Elizabeth Warren has been talking about this since she’s been in Congress. AOC cosponsored a similar bill with Ted Cruz of all people years ago. And it was talked about a ton in the progressive wing of the party when a bunch of congresspeople got caught doing insider trading

I’ll happily criticize Democrats all day long but 9 times out of 10 when someone says “democrats could have easily solved XYZ but chose not to” that’s not the case. The issues in the US go far beyond the two parties in charge. They’re baked into the system of government itself

The problem is they really haven’t. The US system is intentionally designed to make passing laws like that a lot more difficult than they should be. Even the GOP struggle to pass laws and they’re way more willing to bend and break rules to force things through. That’s why Trump is doing so many EOs

You’re welcome to interpret my beliefs however you like. But to suggest you’re a realist is laughable. Your idea for how to enact change in a democracy is fundamentally divorced from reality. Every single person you’d be willing to work with has to be ideologically identical to you.

I don’t get certain leftists obsession with moral purity. I mean hypothetically if I can get someone to vote no on “Genocide?” I don’t really care how they voted in the past. What matters is that I’ve got an extra vote on my side now. Their moral character is for their friends to deal with not me

Whatever man. I’m done arguing for today. If say voters in WI apologizing first is what it takes for leftist to work with liberals then whatever. I personally think just skipping that and convincing them to vote for pro-Palestine candidates is a better strategy but so be it I guess

I never claimed to be. I’m just saying what anyone with a basic understanding of politics works would be saying. You need majority support to do anything. And refusing to work with people who aren’t leftists isn’t a great strategy of getting that majority in power

They clearly haven’t been. The top concerns among voters last election were the economy, immigration, and democracy. Gaza was nowhere near the top. If they were mobilized that would have been the case. Saying the voters were mobilized in a year with very low turnout on the democratic side is crazy
