It remains one of my proudest career achievements to have cast and directed the voice work for Nightdive Studios' award-winning System Shock remake. And now, I can say that a game I directed is on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2!!

Congratulations to the whole team!

There's nothing like the joy of discovery! Go out and look at cool rocks and plants and share what you find

Yeah, there are some great fossil beds very close to this formation. Lots of corals and crinoids and fossil snails, tons of fossil worm burrows. The earth is amazing!

Out for the first ride of the not-murderously-hot season, patrolling the Mojave, and discovered massive veins of selenite gypsum -- huge glassy chunks just sticking out the ground! Nothing in the world beats the rush of a new discovery and learning new things about our world. 🀘

Thank you! Thanks to a brilliant Redditors, we think its calcium carbonate (limestone) beds morphed through hydrothermal MVT mineralization into bands of calcium magnesium carbonate (white and pink dolomite tinged with iron impurities) with layers of less permeable micritic limestone in between.

No silicates here; it's all calcium carbonate (limestone) beds likely morphed through hydrothermal MVT mineralization into bands of calcium magnesium carbonate (white dolomite and pink dolomite tinged with iron impurities) with layers of less permeable micritic limestone in between.

Large swathes of Nevada were covered by the Western Interior Seaway, and these carbonate beds are 450 million years old, with rugose horn corals and crinoids in the same area. But it's looking likely that Mg-rich basin waters forced through bedding strata turned it to a form of zebra dolomite.
