Why do you need to hand stitch? If it's difficult to machine sew the rounded corner, it can help to make some small snips in the fabric that are just smaller than the seam allowance. Also, you want to machine sew with the gusset on top and bend that to match the corner.

Thank you! Not finding nearly as much time as I'd like to get creative recently, so it makes me happy to actually execute a new idea.

Experimenting with making an illuminated daisy chain by 3D printing snap-on circular covers for a pebble light string and cutting shiny vinyl flowers that fit around the glowy centers.

Finally revisiting "Fibonacci256 Expanding"! I found a few working LED PCBs in my stash, finished the #lasercut acrylic enclosure, got it working with #PixelBlaze by @bhencke.bsky.social, submitted for approval on Lectronz, and up for sale soon!

If you increment N in small fractional steps instead of integers, you get a smooth transition between the spiral patterns.

In disc phyllotaxis, like Fibonacci256, lighting every N LEDs from the center produces a pattern. If N is from the Fibonacci sequence a spiral (or mesh of spirals) is produced because the divergence (angle of succession in a single spiral arrangement) approaches the golden ratio.

I haven't ordered new PCBs lately because tariffsarebullshit.com so I tackled my rework pile. I had enough to build a Fibonacci1024 but one needed rework. I used a thin wire to jump the first dead LED, which didn't light the rest. So I jumped the last lit LED which ended up being the culprit.

Carrie gave an awesome talk at Teardown on the travails of designing and selling battery-powered products. It's definitely worth a watch.

Almost all consumer electronics is neither manufactured nor fully designed by the company that sells them. That includes the largest brands out there with very few exceptions.
All or at least the final design is done by an OEM/ODM.

Two green poseable PCB assemblies, shaped like inflatable car wash men are illuminated through translucent patches on the front of the PCBs. One assembly is laying on a table, connected to a programmer while the other assembly stands vertically with its base held by a round silver 3D printed stand. Begind the assemblies is a plastic bin filled with dozens more identical assemblies.

My prize from the Hackaday SuperCon SAO challenge just arrived! It is 100 copies of the Bendy SAO produced and assembled by SupplyFrame. They're getting flashed and paired with 3D printed stands, so now I have a cool giveaway for #teardown2025  next week!
