I don't know who needs to see this, as the saying goes, but platform engineering is not just "devops" or "infra" by another name.

Platform engineering is about bringing a product sensibility and design ethos to the infra-shaped technical problem space.

This is heartbreaking and horrible. AmeriCorps jobs are such a low-cost win-win, providing helpful support for the communities, nonprofits, schools, public agencies, etc. and helping young people pay bills and explore possible career paths.

My heart breaks at the idea that we would deprive a generation of young trans athletes these formative experiences with their peers because of hateful, hysterical fear-mongering that has no basis in fact.

Not every team I played on had out transgender athletes, but when I have had trans teammates, they played the game with the exact same heart, determination, team spirit, and love of the game that my cisgender teammates brought.

Through sports, I also learned how to work together with people who might have come from different backgrounds or life experiences than me — and I learned to see the many things we all had in common.

From soccer to softball to rugby to rowing, the many sports teams I've been on throughout my life have been a safe haven, a second family, and a place where I developed lifelong teamwork and leadership skills.

My point: if you support trans rights but this issue feels largely theoretical to you, fight like someone you know and love is trans. Almost certainly that's already the case. (3/3)

Those reasons still matter to me, but now I fight much more because so many people I care for deeply—family members, friends, coworkers—are trans, and so many are rightly afraid of what's already happening and what's coming. Their safety is at risk because a small minority spread hate. (2/3)

I used to believe in trans rights just because trans rights are human rights. Later, I came to see that the struggle for trans rights is intertwined with all women's rights and all LGBTQ+ rights. As James Baldwin said, "If they take you in the morning, they will be coming for us that night" (1/3)
