The AI QA announcements make me furious. QA are essential. They have the ingenuity to break your game in insane ways because players definitely will. Any game out the door without a fuckton of bugs is down to QA. They're so underappreciated and so necessary.

One of the outstanding bits of Avatar's Magic designs is having cards that are clearly and cleanly flavored mechanically for a character/event in Avatar, but also match up with Magic Mechanics/Design Language in a way that converses with older designs.

I want to look at some cards that best do this

So they're going to do this for one, maybe two games. It'll be full speed ahead until it's 6 months from release and the game is falling apart, at which point they'll pay an insane overtime rate for a QA studio to do it last minute which won't be enough.

Even on the less glamorous projects, Square has always been remarkably insistent we freelancers be involved in the LQA process and paid accordingly, which is quite rare. SE QA runs a tight ship that has always made our material better and their jobs especially deserve protection in this climate.

You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
