Radiology just called to let me know he's out of his procedure. Everything went well! He should be out of recovery and back into his hospital room in about an hour.

And now we wait...

Interesting. I'm a big fan of a tiny sprinkle of cinnamon on my (otherwise black) coffee in the winter, but I've never tried nutmeg.

Matt is heading into his procedure now. Will add a comment when I've heard anything else.

He's apparently been ill for a while and hiding it (trying to take care of me) so... we've agreed to both be better at not letting health things go so long unchecked.

Grateful we were connected with a specialist who is pretty confident about what's needed!!

I saw Matt at the hospital this afternoon. He looks better, but his pain is still pretty intense and food isn't always settling well.

Barring unforeseen stuff, his procedure will be tomorrow morning, followed by 24hrs observation. If it all looks good, he'll be sent home w/ follow-up in 2-3 weeks.

Harder still when the roles are suddenly reversed. Metastatic cervical cancer survivor, with disabling issues from treatment. Matt has been my caretaker for years, so not only am I trying to be there for him, I'm having to do things for myself that I don't usually do.

Honestly? I'm fighting a cold (of course) and missing my husband who is an hour away. I'll get through this, but I really just want this episode to end.

His procedure has been delayed until Monday, which means the earliest he can come home is Tuesday night (though probably Wednesday).

Oh thanks, I'll try that next time!

I need to figure out how to stop a very big dog from loudly snoring without waking him up.

We've learned the hard way that he shouldn't be startled when deep asleep. He spent first ten puppy months on the street and five years later he still reacts poorly.

He's a pain sometimes, but we love him.

He's finally been transferred (after over 36 hr wait for bed assignment) to a different hospital with a surgical specialist. The current theory/plan is an infected bile duct that is blocked with a stone; duct needs to be drained, then a somewhat complicated proc to remove the stone. Good times.

Now I want to make a coat like this... hmmm....

Not that I know of (at least not yet) but thank you so much for offering!!

Matt needs another procedure, but due to circumstances he needs to be transferred to L’ville for a specialist to do it with dedicated equipment.

We’re waiting for confirmation, then transport for him.

Thank you. When the surgeon is worried, I tend to get worried too, knowing just enough to be able to follow the medical jargon.

Matt’s definitely going to be here for another night; he’s actually pretty sick. He would have been a lot worse if I hadn’t insisted we go to the ED yesterday. Trying not to overshare and not overreact at the same time.

So... I'm back home, while Matt gets to spend at least one night at the hospital. He's NPO until further notice, and since he hasn't had anything to eat or drink since 2 this morning, better part of valor to leave and let the staff deal with him

Yeah, the surgical team wants to keep him overnight to (a) watch and (b) do a bunch of testing to see what's actually going on and how best to treat.

And… he’s being admitted again (taken this long to make the decision).

They survived the drive, only to arrive with multiple EMS patients coming in.

How long will they wait for tests? Only time will tell.

I never mind pretty snow when I don't have anywhere to go. We have about an inch on the ground from overnight. It has just started snowing again, though. I have no idea how much more we're expecting today.

Meanwhile, there's hot coffee to drink, sewing videos to watch, and relaxing to do.

I hear ya. I have fibromyalgia (diagnosed years ago) and I've YET to get a prescription for emergency pain relief from my primary care doctor. The hospital that they are affiliated with is incredibly stingy with narcotics, rarely giving an rx for more than 2/day x 4 days at a time after surgery. 🤷‍♀️

It's slow going. He is still struggling to eat anything substantial and he's in some pain, but he's out of the good pain relievers.

Matt is still limited as far as lifting goes for another week. I managed to get myself dressed and took the trash & recycling to the curb for pickup tomorrow morning.

I haven't pulled out the winter coat yet; I figured I'd just layer up.

Yeah, there might be a reason why it looks and feels like snowy-time out there. I'm not heading outside any time soon.

I had plans for today; so many things to get done outside.

Instead, I spent the day either cuddled in my robe or sleeping. Here's hoping my garden hose doesn't split in the sub-30F weather between now and Wednesday.
