Research it and you’ll see that the number of companies that actively supported/endorsed the Nazi party & where betrayed/destroyed by them is substantial. Have there been war profiteers that came out better? Sure! Is betting you’ll be one of them hubris? Yes, AND you’re on the wrong side of history.

Das Schöne daran ist übrigens auch, dass man inzwischen im GameLab quasi blind ins Regal greifen kann und irgendeinen schrägen Schatz findet. (Case in point: Diese Raumschiff GameStar-DVD)

If you look at Germany in the 1930s, it’s—historically speaking—not that surprising. Or, put another way, one might think that the current tech oligarchy might have learned from history that this isn’t a winning move, but it’s almost like they think they know better 🤷

And so I'd say that's my design goals met! I'm excited to see what people do in the writing contest—there's a lot of space to expand the Struggles concept to be more than just combat, but also other types of epic encounter (that's why I called them "struggles" and not something with "combat" in it).

Struggles are on my mind because the newest episode of The Lands Remaining Podcast is all about them, and we're currently holding a writing contest focused on them. So, a quick thread about what is almost certainly going to be the most controversial part of this game!

7. Last song I sang?

I only sing at birthdays and Christmas carols 😅 seriously, I‘m a terrible singer, so I never sing for myself or under the shower. So I guess my last song was Schneeflöckchen 🎅

6. First Job

I had a lot of jobs in my early carrier, kinda like any good writer ;) I think my first paid job was a summer internship at 15, for either a company recycling containers where I had to clean them and cut them apart, or a company building trolley cars, doing logistics.

5. Biggest turn on

In a non-sexual way: folks who are authentically enthusiastic and into something, who are giddy with excitement and joy about something, really turn on my compersion, and I like that.

As for the other turn on: ask me in person! I love to have those conversations, just not here.

4. do you believe in soulmates

Kinda. But I don’t think the are predestined individuals you are meant to meet. I think they are just those beings you really, really, really click with. And if you work on yourself you attract those who do as well, making the connection feel soulmate-y.

3. want to tell something but don’t

Yeah, comes with my polyamorous lifestyle. Me and my partners truly believe that more love is a good thing, but I quickly learned to handle this with care. :)

2. compliment never forgotten.

I once attended a workshop called „Find your inner superhero“. We all know our inner critic, now meet the other guy as well. My superpower left me with „Nah, that’s not me“, but every single person I ever told this to disagreed. Left quite an impression on me 😌

1. Do you have any nicknames?

Not really. My first name is kinda unusual in my generation, even in German speaking countries (which is my first language). Plus there is a very popular joke about my name, so everybody just stuck by it. 😉

I like the idea of getting to know each other better. Has a nostalgic sheen of early era twitter, when social media still had something hopeful about it. 😌 So, like this post and I‘ll answer!

Dead-Pilled's Subject Matter obviously pushes the envelope in a really juicy way, AND the short-form 2-3 session CfB framework is a BLAST.
Can't wait to get this gnarly little game to the table.

I work daily knowing this person is out there and is going to be a source of annoyance to me personally, and that my game will never make them happy unless I add d20s or initiative or some shit to it, and so I need to ignore them and keep making my game so that it’s the best expression of my vision.

I don't know how many people who have written for S&K have went on to get paid for their writing afterwards, but the number keeps increasing.
And it's not about the money with S&K, it's about the practice and the fun of it!

FWIW, I know where this stuff is coming from: the world is very challenging right now, and people don't feel like they have any power, and so they try to police the things they *can* have some influence over. But it's misguided energy. You should be using your hobby as a source of joy in dark times.

I‘m hoping @jasoncordova.bsky.social will be writing that book for future rpg historians to have a first hand account of what this play culture is all about. I know I‘m biased, but this honestly feels like something as seminal as what came out of the Forge back then.
