New article thinking about the interplay between identity and solidarity among people of color. How stable is each orientation in a national sample? How much does each feed into each other over time, if at all? Do things look similar or different across PoC?

Research shows citizens in many Western democracies are increasingly affectively polarized––they feel warm toward their own party but quite cold toward opposing parties.

But how does it feel to β€œfeel warmly”?

Merz just said on German TV that the primary priority of his government will be to ensure that Europe can achieve full strategic independence from the United States in the defence against Russia.

Merz was once a die hard Atlanicist. Now, after Trump he is a Gaullist.

CongressData The CongressData Project aims to compile, disseminate, and encourage the use of data relevant to research of the US Congress and tracks member-level variables across the states across time. We have gathered more than 900 variables from various sources and assembled them into one large, useful dataset. We hope this project will become a 'one-stop shop' for academics, policy analysts, students, and researchers looking for variables germane to the study of the US Congress.

New CongressData update with its r packages & web app:
cspp.ippsr.msu.edu/congress/

We now have 1,000 variables at the district-member-year level, including 9 new data sources with area crosswalks, activist presence, primaries, environmental data, broadband, & legislative style

Identity politics can only be identity politics if it comes from the left, and if it centers on historically marginalized groups. Right wing politics that emphasize male, Christian and white identity is not defined as identity politics.
