10. Financial & identity protection: Never share financial info, full birthdates, or other verification details online. Don't take online quizzes and watch for scams using your publicly available information.

9. Harassment & stalking prevention: Block and report, don't engage. Screenshot everything. Make accounts private or take breaks if you're being targeted.

8. Digital footprint: Google yourself to see what's public. Request removal from data broker sites. Use different usernames across platforms to avoid easy tracking.

7. Family safety: Be mindful with kids' content. School uniforms, team jerseys, or badges can reveal identifying information. Use "close friends" lists for content you don't want widely shared, or better yet, keep your children off the internet entirely.

6. Professional boundaries: Keep personal and work accounts separate when possible. Be careful about what you post that might compromise your career or reveal workplace info.

5. Visual content safety: Blur or crop identifying details like license plates, school names, team jerseys, or distinctive murals. Audit your background for windows or furniture that could show your location.

4. Turn off geotagging in app settings. Avoid real-time check-ins at home, work, or routine spots.

Also check reflections in windows, mirrors, or sunglasses—they can reveal more than you think.

3. Privacy settings: Review them regularly. Limit who can see your posts, friend list, and personal info. Make sure your Venmo transactions are set to private.

Don't share travel plans or schedules publicly.

And some folks out there are so good at OSINT that they can figure out where you are based on one tree in the background, so please be careful posting anywhere outdoors.

2. Don't post outside your home with identifiable features visible. Don't share any photos with house numbers, distinctive landscaping, street signs, or even recognizable street views, as they can pinpoint your location.

1. If you're going to post about a place, share your location after you've left, not while you're there.

Delay posts about where you were until you're safely somewhere else.

Instead, it contributes meaningfully. All of this evokes calm and delight for me.

The energy of wonder makes me feel like hate is a complete waste of time.

I would so much rather spend the rest of my life learning about the amazing world.
