The header at the top of the image reads: Out Now.
In the center of the image (which has a background of lush crimson rose blossoms) is the front cover of Stephanie Burgisβs A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience, which shows an ominously closed entrance-gate at the top of the cover and a bat with its wings outspread at the bottom, all framed by climbing roses. Four arrows point at the cover with four chunks of text, reading: βBeauty and the Beast, but heβs a vampireβ βSheβs brilliant, and he loves itβ βTea is very importantβ and βShe *really* loves libraries.β
...And of course, if you haven't yet read the first novella in this series, you can snap up A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience, too. The New York Times called it "a charmingly subversive treat" and absolutely made my week. β€οΈπ¦β€οΈ

The illustrated cover for A Honeymoon of Grave Consequence, by Stephanie Burgis, shows the silhouette of an elegant traveling carriage over the title and a bat with wings outstretched underneath, all of it framed by apples and with mirrors at the top and the bottom of the image. Above and beside the cover is this snippet of text:
Her pulse gave a sudden, panicked jolt.
Clearly reflected in the mirror, the ragged duvet was curved in the shape of her husbandβs formβbut his pillow was empty.
What foolishness! Breathing in and out with slow control, Margaret set her teeth together and forced herself not to follow the instinctive urge to twist around and urgently assure herself that her lifeβs partner was safe.
The windows were fully shuttered with multiple layers of thick wooden slats. No sunlight could possibly reach inside this chamber, and she was no weak-nerved ingΓ©nue to be taken aback by a perfectly well-known side-effect of vampirism. She had been studying the supernatural for years.
Still, sheβd never anticipated quite how unnerving it might feel when applied to the single person in the world who was undeniably hers.
My cozy-spooky romantasy novella A Honeymoon of Grave Consequence came out just 4 days ago, so of course it's supplying this week's Friday snippet. β€οΈπ¦β€οΈ

Yeah the access to books for children has been heavily curtailed for a long time. My tiny primary school had a room full of books but no dedicated staff, my high school ironically had a staff member but not many books (he mostly managed the it centre)

will someone tell Rachel Reeves that a room full of books is better than nothing but school libraries needs librarians!! private schools know this and so have proper working libraries. all schools need that.
