I have a tight working schedule, thus I still don’t know how much will I be able to post. Initially, my plan is once or twice a week.

Please feel free to drop me a message for any questions or advice.

I can still assure you of the quality and truthfulness of what I write.

The Substack will be completely free, I don’t feel like I’m in a position to make readers pay for now. I’m doing it for my enjoyment and enrichment and, hopefully, for yours.

There is already an excellent Substack that delves into SE Asian affairs: @ASEANWonk by Dr. Parameswaran. I suggest you follow it. I cannot match his expertise, but I have been trying to build specialist knowledge about SE Asia for some time and I am still learning.

My knowledge about Southeast Asia (still green and very much developing, I admit) comes from self-learning and the couple of elective courses I chose during my time at the university.

I have written about Southeast Asia extensively in recent years, despite not having an area studies background on the region. My academic education centered on international relations and strategic studies, without a specific focus on this or that region of the world.

Establishing the Realm of the Possible: Logistics and Military Strategy

Still very, very relevant as we have seen with regards to Russia's military flaws after the invasion of Ukraine.

The latest from @War_Mapper on Israel’s assault into #Gaza. The plan appears to be to isolate Gaza City and northern Gaza in the initial phase of the advance. What does this mean? 1/7 🧵

The state of Russia's war on Ukraine as it nears 2024 The current fighting season is still far from over in Ukraine, but it is already clear that the war unleashed by Putin in February 2022 will continue into the coming year, writes Mykola Bielieskov.

"We are currently witnessing a period of intense attrition, but this may well be followed by a fresh round of maneuver warfare. At present, the key task for commanders on each side is to protect their own forces and inflict heavy losses on the enemy..."

Combat medics like @bekamaciorowski are essential to military operations, and save lives every day on the frontline in #Ukraine. Donating funds, or buying IFAKS directly, helps Beka and her fellow medics play their crucial role in defending Ukraine.

Ukrainians made some massive entries to their claims for Russian losses today. 55 new tanks and 120 APCs/IPCs. Looks like they were able to do a proper scan of the Avdiivka battle area and the Russians there were really mauled. 10 days ago this was supposed to herald a new Russian success...

Ukraine Must Prepare for a Hard Winter The lack of a breakthrough in Ukraine’s summer offensive and the shift in materiel advantage mean that Kyiv must fight carefully if it is to retain the initiative.

New piece by Watling who analyses possible challenges and opportunities both Ukraine and Russia might face this winter.

Among other things, NATO must increase production of ammunition and procurement of stockpiles to help Kyiv sustain its offensive.

there are many things that are interesting about it. Using animals is one of them. What about the millions of horses killed in battle throughout history? The elephants used by the Persians? Military dogs still used today? Not saying is right or not consequential. But it is interesting. That is all.
