There’s a lot of study evident in both vocal production and style coaching that rings through in an earnest, consistent manner across the entire album; it’s just a joy to listen to.

The control and tone quality combined with the material she’s singing indicates to me significant vocal training across multiple styles of singing, as she’s flipping from belting to head voice/falsetto to more classically-inclined phonation to fado-style intonation and riffing.

In summation:

10/10, will absolutely listen to again, is immediately going into my purchasing queue

I’m on the final song and I don’t want this to end. This was a much more theatrical experience than I was expecting but in many ways that makes it much more satisfying to listen to front to back, plus Rosalía has the vocal chops to slay the entire thing

Also, who is Carminho? Am I accurate in assuming she’s a fado singer based on the name?

I think she sounds absolutely glorious. The technique she’s displaying in service of the material is absolutely breathtaking.

Song fourteen: I don’t know if knowing the language would enhance or impede my appreciation of these songs but on a pure sonic level I am absolutely in love with what she’s doing here

Song thirteen is absolutely thrilling. I am waiting for something to come up on this album that doesn’t work for me and it just hasn’t happened.

Song twelve is absolutely gorgeous. I would murder to have that freedom of tone in my voice

Song eleven takes the mood back down a bit but maintains the musical intensity. I would like to meet her vocal coach because the delicacy in her tone mixed in with occasional power is absolutely thrilling and I would love to incorporate some of it into my own singing.

Song ten: At this point I am not sure what this album could do to turn me against it. Every choice is exactly right and the presentation bangs like hell, plus Rosalía sounds SO GOOD on everything

Song nine picks up the energy a bit and is continuing this trend of me being outrageously chuffed about this album

Song eight is continuing the party. I would love to see her just perform this entire thing front to back. It would be transfixing, if wildly taxing on the body for her.

And then we segue into song seven, which totally flips the mood while firmly occupying the same sonic universe

Song six: sense of listening to a recital increasing dramatically

It’s a bit like “what if Sarah Brightman albums were interesting”

Song five: this feels a bit like listening to a live recital. There’s an overarching theatricality to the piece that comes through even though I don’t understand the language

Song four: I am levitating, this is exactly what I wanted this album to be. It’s tender, beautiful, delicate, and slightly sinister. I wish I knew Spanish.

Onto song three (btw the transition from the previous song directly panders to everything I adore); so far we are still in this stripped down fragile space and I love it

oh my god the beat and strings just came in, this is glorious, inject it into me

The first song ended as I was typing that intro, fitting for an intro song I guess.

Into the second song and I do not remember her voice being this awesome on previous things I’ve heard from her, holy wow

I can take the singer but he’s not my favorite, and my overall impression of the band increases by leaps and bounds when they foreground the rhythm section.

What an interesting listen. I didn’t hate it, and in fact I really like three songs, but I don’t see myself going beyond those any time soon or even back to the three songs I liked.

Also it’s very funny to me that the band’s name is Geese and their singer sounds like that

Whenever they foreground the rhythm section, they get really, really good
