This breach will have unbelievably far reaching consequences. The US government's cybersecurity has been hugely weakened under Trump so we will only see more things like this happen. Chaos an ideal climate for bad actors.

The tldr is the Alaska meeting is, to R, an sufficiently guaranteed material concession large enough to outmatch the cost of the asymmetry; the cost to russia is ~ a bit of flattery, and in return both undermines UA sovereign legitimacy, and locks-in opportunities to weaken US support to UA

My rule of thumb for trump-putin conference analysis is if it doesn't mention how unusual it is for the meeting to not be held in a third-party country like, say, UAE, and specifically on why *putin* rather than just trump would agree to that, then the analysis is probably not going to be worth much

Three work flights this summer: first - return flight cancelled and I got back a full day late. second - return delayed, then diverted for fuelup. and now the 3rd -return flight got very hot in the cabin just now, landed early and medical personnel coming on to check us all over. I love flying.

As the piece notes, the PragerU propaganda is being used in schools in Louisiana, Florida, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Montana, Arizona, South Carolina and Idaho.

Check with your district to see if they're using this garbage to brainwash your kids.

An innocent President would simply release the Epstein Files and demand a full FBI investigation into every Epstein client.

Thatโ€™s it.

Thatโ€™s the whole ballgame summed up.

This is so breathtakingly cruel that my soul glitched. Iโ€™m never surprised by the depths of depravity, per se, but having to process it still exacts an emotional cost.

Trump: โ€œIf we did not come, Ukraine and Russia would have turned into a world war. I stopped that.โ€

The firehose of Trump statements has, in a way, normalised what he says.

But sometimes I step away from the mockery and think, Iโ€™m observing a seriously mentally ill person.

Again, you cannot unplug 1/4-1/5 of an R1 university's budget & expect the same quantity or quality of "things" on campus. The math simply doesn't work. And pretending it does & we can uphold our "core values," & not talking loudly & publicly about how it doesn't, is not a strategy. It's madness.

The wildly divergent trending media reports over the past couple of days regarding the possible Trumpโ€“Putin meeting suggest that sources on both sides are leaking dream scenarios to journalists and praying to God Almighty that something will manifest into reality.

Another angle to this. They've defunded the university language programs their diplomatic corps come from or go to to upskill. They can't even build back this expertise in the future even if they want to.

Yes, weโ€™re literally about to zero out funding for every Title VI area studies center at every university in the country, along with FLAS fellowship funding. A generation of human capital that feeds into our diplomatic & intelligence corps that will simply not exist. National security madness.

We're sending out cancellation of FLAS (Foreign Language & Area Studies) fellowships to dozens of students today, bc Trump has illegally refused to disburse year 4 of our DoE grants. Congrats to everyone in the GOP who is laser-focused on ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ national security & the threat of rising ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ to ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ hegemony.

Again, the public & parents about to send kids to colleges don't understand the scale of this threat & what it means for the quality & quantity of classes/degrees/etc, bc university leaders are totally MIA (bsky.app/profile/mcop...). Meanwhile, stuff everyone takes for granted is just disappearing:

The people controlling the White House are ensuring that it is riskier and riskier to come to the United States to study, to invest the world's talent in America.

The brightest people in the world can, will, and should choose other countries, countries that value them.

08.08.2025 11:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 147    ๐Ÿ” 27    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

These actions, in combination with the wide range of other attacks on international students in the United States, make it clear that the White House considers these brilliant young people categorically harmful.

And will treat them as such.

The rule will mean vast new administrative burdens on requests for new visas.

What happens when the government simply doesn't invest the resources to process these on time?

Students will simply be forced out. In the middle of their degrees.

This Administration tried to push through similar restrictions late in 2020, but the clock ran out.

Universities at that time sounded the alarm, noting that this would push away the best international students, en masse.

Is there any evidence whatsoever that it was harming the United Statesโ€”in the smallest wayโ€”for brilliant young people from overseas who are years in to the PhD to be allowed to stay here to complete it? And trust that this country would allow them to?

Of course not. It's made up.

They'll have to apply for a new visa midway through, after all of that work and risky sacrifice.

At which point the US government can just say, "Nope, we're not letting you stay, and we don't have to give you a reason".

Manyโ€”rightly risk-averseโ€”will understand they're not wanted, and stay away.
