Merthyr Tydfil hit-and-run driver caught by Ring doorbell - BBC News Anthony Tregonning reported his car stolen in an attempted cover-up before admitting he hit a worker.

to be clear: you can drive a souped-up uninsured car with a fake numberplate at over 130mph while evading police, hit-and-run someone who later has his leg amputated, concoct an elaborate lie about it all, and be allowed to drive again in less than 6 years www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Amazing to me that the number of people killed by cars continues to grow and you only ever hear about it if the news thinks the person driving the vehicle might be Muslim

Ok. But are there any downsides?

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism.

The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us.

The Greens say enough is enough.

@owenjones.bsky.social vindicated for pointing out that Labour MPs can no longer properly reckon with Russia's war crimes

What? But the government assured me that we had a watertight export regime, that absolutely nothing more needed to be done and it was ridiculous to suggest that we could be supplying parts for the bombing of civilians?

I've said it before and I'll say it again

racists, transphobes and bigots more generally are absolutely objectively and factually those things.

But they truly do not believe they are not for any real reason. they just know those things are bad and refuse to accept them about themselves.

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Can you imagine if Russia attacked and seized a UK vessel in international waters & kidnapped the people on board, including UK citizens, and the only response from the UK govt was to say that's "a matter for the Russian govt".

No, me neither.

BBC Laura Kuenssberg Show Accused of Anti-Green Bias After Cancelling Zack Polanski Interview The new Green Party leader was the only major party leader not to have been granted a conference interview on the flagship BBC show

BBC now suggesting they didn't interview Zack Polanski on Laura Kuenssberg when he was elected because they weren't on air then. Which is technically true because he was elected on a Tuesday. However, they did air just days later on Sunday and featured interviews with Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch

No, this is Britain. Politicians aren't allowed to champion people and their interests.

You're supposed to tell us that everything has to get worse and we're silly to expect any better.

This is probably the last actual benefit of being a British citizen which is that they'll intercede on your behalf when things like this happen and in the face of their pet pariah state they refuse to even do that.

BBC Laura Kuenssberg Show Accused of Anti-Green Bias After Cancelling Zack Polanski Interview The new Green Party leader was the only major party leader not to have been granted a conference interview on the flagship BBC show

A BBC spokesperson now says they will offer to interview Zack Polanski on the Laura Kuenssberg show "in the coming weeks" after cancelling their planned interview with him during the Green Party conference.

Requests for an interview following his election as Green leader were also denied

Did she give her transphobia a rest when Brianna was murdered, or did she double down? There's a direct correlation between anti-trans rhetoric and anti-trans violence. There isn't one between opposing genocide and antisemitic violence.

I'm Jewish. I'm also Mancunian.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?
