Meta Plans to Add Facial Recognition Technology to Its Smart Glasses

Meta's plan for launching glasses that people can use to secretly identify strangers on the street is to do it "during a dynamic political environment" when people who care about why that's bad are "focused on other concerns."

This is the third time Ring has backed off of some Orwellian practice because of public outcry; in the two previous cases it went right back to the evil as soon as the uproar died down. There is no reason to suspect this will be any different.

Drone delivery firm Manna seeks permission to fly in Cork airspace Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) confirmed Manna as the beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operator that has requested permission to fly over Cork City

Sure thing, Bobby Drones.

"sources close to Manna stating that up to 50 new jobs are created in every suburb it expands to."

Could be as high as 50, could be as low as 0. Who's to know?

I've just realized. Banks used to be big imposing high street buildings because it gave people confidence they had money and weren't fly by night. A big elaborate website was the internet equivalent: proving someone had invested ยฃ and was here to stay.

You can't trust that any more.

Places like achill and Killarney that are impossible to find a place to live in create their own political consensus. cause the people who can't find anywhere to live there leave and the people who can are often landlords like MHR himself

Iโ€™m glad to see people protesting Discord forcing IDs for age verification, but what I need everyone to understand is that thereโ€™s immense bipartisan pressure to make the entire internet like this, and they are likely going to succeed unless something drastic happens

Helen Lovejoy 'Won't somebody please think of the children' image from The Simpsons.

As he's part of a government whose main principles appear to be cowardice, inaction and kowtowing to (mostly US) businesses I suppose it's not all that surprising he's landed on this as something to do.

Brought to you by the same people who developed the twice-found-unlawful Public Services Card / MyGovID system, which will doubtless be kludgily attached to the age verification system.

Proposal to end Dublin Airport passenger cap approved The Cabinet has approved drafting the required legislation to end the passenger cap at Dublin Airport.

In 6 weeks, Minister O'Brien has fast-tracked LNG infrastructure, lifted the moratorium on data centres and the Dublin Airport passenger cap. All under the banner of 'strategic infrastructure'.

Irresponsible moves that lock us into climate havoc and US dependency.

Ireland may enact age limits for social media even without EU agreement, says Simon Harris New digital wallet will represent โ€˜important first stepโ€™, says Tรกnaiste

Still not even the slightest attempt to explain how age verification for all, with all its attendant security risks, breaches of privacy and massive indiscriminate surveillance potential leads to children being safer online. Very much an underpants gnomes plan.
