Saint Philomena is one of the many “person in power thought she was hot, she didn’t want to marry him, so he murdered her” teen saints. I was weirdly obsessed with these stories as a kid. Anyway drew this yesterday while praying for justice for Epstein’s victims. (Colored pencil on 5below paper.)

A chia plant in bloom- leaves look just like mint leaves, oval tapering to a point at the end. Opposite leaves. The blooms are set in a bunch kind of like lavender, but larger. Purple flowers shaped a little bit like snap dragon but smaller, with a small amount of white at the “lip” of the flower. I’m sure someone else could describe it better, but it is beautiful!

(Extra chia seeds from a kids’ (long ago died off) chia pet someone got her. I had no idea chia plants were so beautiful when they bloom! Apparently they are in the mint family so they’ll probably be in the garden for a while… 🌱

Expressing disgust & distance from perpetrators and expressing support & concern for victims are not identical, and I wish the language people used around these things was governed more by the latter, because there are ways of doing the former that don’t serve the latter at all.

OMG the Cincinnati Children’s hospital Pastor speaks after being detained for 73 days by ICE and he is a legal U.S citizen & they knew it when they took him & they’ve known it for all 73 days! He said the there are a lot of people in there that are U.S citizens & no crimes ever!

Tabby cat seen from above, he’s lying across the sketchbook which is in my lap. You can only see the very edges of the drawing I’m working on, not enough to tell what it is.

Same cat as previous photo, now lying asleep in his back. He looks a lil goofy with his paws up but also flopped. His belly and paws are all white but you can see his tabby face. I’ve got colored pencils on his belly as if he is a table. His back foot rests on the drawing I am working on, but you can see most of the drawing which is an unfinished portrait of a man and a woman beside each other.

T-shirt quilt- four shirts across, six shirts down, teal fabric in between quilts. Not a perfect grid as different shirts were slightly different sizes. In the photo it is hung up outside, actually on the side of a tree house but you can’t tell that from the photo, it’s very zoomed in on the quilt without much background to the photo.

I am not a t-shirt quilt person-working with stretchy jersey is just not my jam. Anyway, made this one as a retirement gift and paid a long arm quilter for the first time ever because I just couldn’t figure out quilting it. Happy with it (And especially happy I don’t have to deal with it anymore 😆)

It takes 30 days to grow a radish. Also 2/3 of the country is already in or entering winter.

Large gulf coast toad in my hand. It is not bothered at all by being held, it is just chilling and waiting for me to put it back down.

A full rainbow stretching across a dusky sky. Clouds are very very slightly tinted and orangey pink. Treetops line the bottom of the photo, while a couple of goldenrod plant tops, flowering, are in the center foreground.

My kids LOVE graphic novels! Zits the space girl is a current favorite- there are three or four in that series.

And not exactly a graphic novel, but a chapter book with plenty of pictures- my son loves the dragonbreath books! He’s been checking them out one at a time from the school library.

Small quilt is hanging on a line outside. Quilt is made up of simple squares of different kid friendly fabrics, bordered with bright solid colors. Many fabrics, too many to detail without running out of space , but most are hard to see all the details of in the photo anyway. There are animals, baby Yoda, Pokémon, cars, etc. outlining solid fabric is almost rainbow, from top red and so on down, but there is no purple.

Finished quilt! This one I did differently-friend doesn’t like the feeling of seams/stitching. I quilted the top to the batting, and added the back like I’d make a simple two pieces of fabric blanket. Tada-no stitches on the fleecy back! The edges are not as neat, but worth it for the sensory win!

The star is bright and pale green fabric with funny raccoon prints. The pale green fabric has raccoons selling strawberries at a farm stand. The bright green print has raccoons holding and enjoying a variety of foods/ hot dogs, ice cream, pizza. All fabric is from the sadly now closed Joanne fabric store.

Lately most of what I’ve been creating has been portraits of my friend’s kids and my kids’ friends as many birthdays have been back to back. And I don’t share pictures of other people’s kids publicly. But, I did finish this quilt for my friend’s raccoon loving kid so that I can share!

They’re all so cute, but I especially like the one stretching!

Ramón, a tabby and white cat, has just discovered the bathroom sink. He sits to the edge of the sink, head under the lightly running faucet, tongue out to drink water. Faucet has drips on it where he has misjudged or taken breaks from drinking and gotten water splashed/ dripped around. His nose has a little water on it as well but he is mostly dry himself.

Bumble bee sitting on a purple morning glory flower. Its tongue is sticking out into the center of flower, and it has a fine dusting of pollen all down the side of its face.

This bumblebee, tongue all the way out and face covered in pollen, is pretty much me with a bag of Cheetos eating my feelings 😆 Glad my pollinator garden is being judged as good enough by the bees!

I’m glad the AAP is looking out for children even though our government is not. But will covid vaccines be made for this age group? Will insurances cover it?

Picture is of an quilt top on the floor, it’s kind of a shooting star pattern but the whole block isn’t shown, it’s turned kind of a diamond instead of square direction, with two corners going off the sides of the picture. The quilt pattern is fairly simple: Green star, blue and dark green background. A tabby kitten sits on the quilt because he’s nosy and wants to be the center of all love and attention (which he often is.)
