I’m confused now — what procedures are being conjured up in, say, Fall of Magic that aren’t explicitly detailed, yet remain consistent across tables?

I feel like we’re maybe talking about different things? I’m talking about the frequent complaint that rules-lite and OSR games frequently are just offloading the burden of making the game work on to players who may or may not have the knowledge and skills to succeed

To me, the trick is worrying so much less about those unspoken rules and the variance that comes with them. That’s flexibility — it’s a feature!
