Of all the "horror" writers working today, Langan may be the one that most effectively uses horror to illuminate what it means to be human. He's a bit of a magician; you don't always notice that he's doing it, but you walk away from his stories with a different perspective on all the things we are.

A very happy book birthday to John Langan's newest collection, Lost in the Dark and Other Excursions! As always, Langan is an auto-buy author, and I absolutely loved the title piece when I read it years ago in a Datlow anthology.
