I'd be more worried about generative AI destroying my career but its going to destroy the very notion of thinking you can trust what you see on a screen ever again well before that

I also have advice. Everybody loves reading advice on the computer, so I'll share it: the best thing you can do right now is log off as hard as you can. Go outside, talk to people in real life where it's actually kind of rude to talk about the news, try to actually see the friends you usually just text message. Go for a long drive and turn the phone off while you do it. Get back into your hobbies or pick one and learn it for a while. Watch one of those studio movies that reviews called "wildly miscalculated" and you haven't seen since high school. Play an album you like but find embarrassing. Go to free community events even if they sound stupid. If you take the freeway, try the surface streets. Go to a bad diner and just order some bad coffee because even bad coffee is good coffee.
You can't help anybody when you're exhausted and keep posting one million college-educated rewordings of "I would love to be dead right now" on the computer. Walk away from the thing and try out some of those normal things you hear about and if you get bored that's wonderful because we're not supposed to get bored anymore. It turns out boredom is the Cadillac of feelings.

The Jimmy Kimmel firing, Colbert's show, what's happening at WaPo, CBS... legacy journalism is slowly but surely coming under state control.

It is more important now than ever before that we support the independent journalists out there doing the work not beholden to a fascist's bidding.

The Onion will be available in almost every Barnes & Noble in the country starting this month! β€œRFK Jr. Fires Piss Czar” will be a visible headline sitting directly next to Bon Appetit and Guns & Ammo.

Chinese literature is tough to find in English. One editor hopes to change that The novel Women Seated is a thriller about a nanny for a rich family and a kidnapping gone awry. It's the first in a new effort to redefine the types of Chinese literature get translated into English.

Professional criticism is not the same as individual reviews. They can both be useful but criticism is a skill-based genre like any other writing. The yelpification of criticism isn’t evolution.

1) Sandra used AI to write a report
2) Bill used AI to summarise the report
3) Bill used AI to write questions about the report
4) Sandra used AI to respond to the questions
5) Bill used AI to create a presentation about the report
6) Jane used AI to take notes from the presentation
7) Jane’s team used AI to summarise the notes she shared

No one wrote the report, no one ever read the report, no one understood the questions or the answers.

No business value was achieved

But but but AI adds business value
