What happens when rolling downhill?

Also an example of how consumers suffer from protectionist trade barriers - in this case, stopping imports of bananas into Australia.

What was the logic behind reducing prices for these particular groups?

Are you going to start regulating bikes rolling down a hill? Because for perhaps over 100 years, bikes have been rolling down hills at the same speed that people think is a problem for e-bikes…

Couldn’t agree more. Deregulate e-bikes. Regulate cars. Society wins.

The image needs more dominoes. I was already an extremist before kids. Post-kids I’ve enter a new stratosphere of intergalactic level mega extremism.

Worth checking out. The CBD is now completely transformed. Multiple linking thriving pedestrian malls. Vibrant outdoor dining. Easy and convenient public transport options.

Does Brisbane hate Sydney so much that the article simply cannot bring itself to look to George St and Pitt St as examples of successful pedestrian malls? There are many lessons for Brisbane there.

I’ll take a city fully of ebikes- modified or not - 100 times out of 100 over a city full of cars and trucks. Make the changes to get cars and trucks out of cities and all the pearl-clutching issues around β€˜illegal ebikes’ will go away.

Isn’t the issue here the lack of proper infrastructure to accommodate the delivery riders? This forces them into conflict with pedestrians. Focussing on speed or incentives misses the real point.

And they’ve certainly done their best make it aesthetically unappealing too

No scores for airport active travel options? I think adding this would just extend Syd’s lead though

Counterpoint - this level of security is appropriate for someone with a large and fanatical group of supporters that might intervene while he’s being transported… it’s not there to stop Luigi

What the actual fuck is that fire truck? Seriously that’s what a smallish town in a developed world country uses? I had no idea πŸ˜‚

Massive fan of this. The obvious solution for share e-bikes in cities is using on-street β€˜car’ spaces.

This has to happen. In fact, it barely goes far enough, by still leaving a 9 hole course. Golf courses have no place in urban centers. Centennial Park next door absolutely heaves with people during week days - and especially on weekends.

… notice the slip lane death zebra crossing outside the Metro station. This is then topped by a signalised pedestrian slip lane crossing on the other side of the road, which cars and pedestrians ignore.

Not enough people are talking about how terrible the intersection redesign of Waterloo Rd and Lane Cove Rd in Macquarie Park is. Outside a metro. Slip lanes. Fuck all pedestrian space. Dumb crossing intervals. Ffs.

e-scooter and e-bike share schemes shouldn’t have docks or any designated parking.

If there’s pedestrian space conflict, which is , in aggregate, rare, take space from the roadway.

This project is emblematic of everything that is wrong with TfNSW. Wtf are they even doing?! So much shadiness, fake consultation, secret car-brained decision making…

My dude, a price incentive is a price incentive. Play it all out on a macro scale and people will drive an EV more than a petrol car, holding all other conditions the same.

23.11.2024 02:29 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is why I’m against electric cars. They come with an inbuilt incentive to drive more. Paying for petrol, for all its downside, at least operates as a cost signal not to drive, which people felt day to day.

23.11.2024 00:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

… this needs to change. Local communities and residents should have to ability to advocate for shared on-street secure bike parking (not just private share bike operators!)

15.11.2024 02:04 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Consideration of on-street bicycle parking is exciting, but seems limited to commercial share bike operators alone…

Babe wake up, the mark-up version of the new City of Sydney, β€˜Neighborhood On-Street Parking Policy’ just dropped.
