I think I understand why the media is pushing Platner so hard on us. It’s so if he’s the nominee, they can say, “well both parties have Nazis running for senate.”

Taught a class on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion today, and every one of my students said they've seen content on TikTok that comes directly from it, without knowing before today what the source was.

This is a huge glaring issue right now. Courts generally ARE doing fairly well, even including significant number of Trump appointees. The corruption is concentrated in scotus.

I don't know if it's really clear, outside of coverage of Mpls and pockets of organizing elsewhere, that hundreds of thousands of people are actively and at every level of society fighting our government as it abducts and imprisons and torments our neighbors.

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

As you see the reports out of Texas SD-9, keep in mind: This was the cash discrepancy.

Money speaks -- but it's not as loud as it used to be.

the extreme Texas gerrymander that set off all the redistricting wars is almost entirely predicated on the assumption that the Hispanic Republican shift in 2024 was permanent and could perhaps even be expanded on so we are now at DEFCON-2 for something extremely funny happening in November.

The testing ground for Bovino’s Operation At Large was Los Angeles. A California judge initially prohibited ICE/CBP’s most flagrant constitutional violations. SCOTUS overruled her 6–3, handing Bovino a blank check to inflict unspeakable brutality on Chicago and Minneapolis. The 6 bear so much blame.

This part. Celebrate every victory, large and small. Celebrate each other. Celebrate the love and solidarity that hold you together. Never stop doing this. It's fundamental.

Americans have a habit of trying to compare all authoritarianism to Nazi Germany. I think in some ways i think it is comforting to view authoritarianism as a foreign ideology. If you want to understand our current authoritarian moment, you need to look to our own past, not to Europe 1/x

Every time one of these gelatinous chuds advertises what total wimps they are I think of the Freedom Riders in Montgomery looking out the bus windows at a crowd of white people armed with pipes and baseball bats waiting to beat them to death.
And getting off the bus anyway.

The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

I just want people who are seeing the crowd pics to know, every single piece of Mpls infrastructure was strained to the limit today to get people there. I’m able bodied and prepared, was outside for 2 hours and still never made it bc our trains downtown were never meant to be packed like they were.

"Oh my gosh, it was so nice to see you! Have a lovely day, fuck ICE!"
"Oh you too hon! Stay safe in that traffic, fuck ICE!'

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

People who were actually enslaved believed that chattel slavery would end one day.

I'm sorry but to me that suggests that you [who are not enslaved in 2026] can also imagine an end to the current horrors.

The Virginia legislature today passed four constitutional amendments, all by day 3 of 2026 session:

—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.

These will all go to 2026 referendums.

1. Yes it shouldn't have taken this when DHS has been monstrous for decades, but

2. It's happening so stop fucking complaining and call your reps to let them know you really want this!

I'm amped up my stoicism but I am still so deeply rattled by this (unsurprising) murder in Minneapolis. The thread below is telling and reflects only a fraction of incidents in Chicago and surrounding suburbs in which ICE agents pointed guns at civilians doing innocuous things.

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

Let me be explicit about what I’m suggesting: In last week’s @autonomynews.co roundup, @susanrinkunas.com and I noted that Craddock could easily rescind Biden-era guidance that said the Comstock Act doesn’t ban the mailing of abortion pills. Bailey could then investigate people mailing pills.

As I've been saying for years to others "Both sides are the same" or "All Politicians are corrupt" only serves to run cover for those that are worse at the expense of those that are better.

Far too many times did the person saying such things also come with the smug aura of "I'm smart to say that"

A lot of anti-anti-Trump types were willfully blind about the political impact of Biden getting no credit for grounding the drones and massive negative credit for ending the war in Afghanistan

As DOJ Sues More States For Voter Rolls, Federal ‘Power Grab’ Comes into Focus Read about the fight for democracy from activists, elected officials, legal experts and others.

This is the most important political, legal and democracy story right now. Yet, it has garnered relatively little coverage from legacy media outlets. The outcome in these cases may decide whether we have free and fair elections in 2026. www.democracydocket.com/analysis/as-...

Also - among my students, impressive and struggling are not mutually exclusive. AI-using and struggling - definitely not mutually exclusive. And some students are all three at once.

Doing my end-of-semester grading, and yes there is some AI, and yes some students are struggling for many reasons, but also: I have many incredibly impressive students who have read, understood, wrestled, integrated, critiqued and grown. At a very good, but not selective-admissions university. #hope

It's good—very good, and very important—that district courts keep issuing these 100-page rulings upholding the law. It must be incredibly dispiriting to see them overturned in a two-page, lawless, unsigned order, but please, keep them coming. They expose SCOTUS' corruption like nothing else.
