@ericroper.bsky.social brushing over the role media played in propping up Frey. Where was the media condemnation of the deeply racist snake oil attack ads on Robin or the AOM flyers that darkened Fateh's skin? Why did no one care about Frey deleting his texts and voicemails when ICE was in town?

Support you were a candidate like Jazz or Davis and you were planning to run again in 2029: what do you think you'd need to change to be able to raise the $ necessary for visibility and viability? Or, is the landscape in Minneapolis just not viable for candidates that fall just short DSA-aligned?

People are out here blaming RCV for Jacob's win. And I cannot stress this enough: RCV had literally nothing to do with it. Everything about this outcome was entirely predictable. Jacob had huge structural advantages: compliant local media, off-cycle election, PAC $, patronage networks.

The time is NOW to get involved in your local DFL unit. If you want to see change in the DFL, change will only happen from within, not by complaining on social media. At a more basic level, we simply need more volunteers, to run caucuses and conventions, and to win elections.

With this election over, my next organizing projects are 1) coalition building for the DFL, to build our bench to win in 2026 and 2) resisting the Minneapolis Charter Commission's efforts to weaken the separation of powers.🧵

Bad news for progressives:

W7: Cashman loses, 52-46.

W5: Ethrophic Burnett down 38-28. Needs to make up a ton of ground in ranked choices.

Good news:

W10 & 2. Chughtai and Wonsley with big wins over very well funded opposition.

W8: Stevenson 56-39.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

SMS text exchange transcript (part 1/2) Me: I was also a Delegate at the City Convention. I was very disappointed that the Frey campaign (and delegation) decided to walk out. Normally, that would be fine in a caucus – except it handed the DFL endorsement to all of the DSA candidates on the park board. That was...regrettable. Canvasing here in my neighborhood, the majority of my neighbors (who are low on political information) just plan on voting for whomever is DFL endorsed Frey campaign: Mayor Frey is committed to addressing racial disparities in our city and has already done work to address these disparities. This includes investing in infrastructure, public safety, transit, and public spaces to foster economic growth and opportunity in all neighborhoods. There is no DFL-endorsed candidate for Mayor.
