Tire dust is a significantly larger source of particulate pollution than tailpipes, and it's packed full of very harmful chemicals. EVs are only marginally better than ICEs in terms of local air pollution, but they are much better in terms of greenhouse gas. The dirty snow it all particulate.

You should look up the data on tire dust. It's a much bigger part of the picture than people realize, especially in terms of particulate in urban settings.

That map has pins in places that aren't really superillas, and is missing places that are.

More EVs really is not the solution. A lot of those toxic chemicals and particulate come off the tires.

This will be a disaster for people who want safer roads. Half measures implemented temporarily will have very poor results, which will just end up giving support for doing nothing.

There are a hell of a lot of cargo bikes running around my neighborhood, used for by commercial delivery, mostly food I think. And almost all of them are just regular e-bikes with a giant box mounted on the back. I'm guessing they know best how to configure a cargo bike.

Bollards have their place, but calming and slowing the streets is even more important.

Odd to apartment living: No worries about leaking roofs, cracked foundations or clogged gutters. No property tax, no homeowners insurance or flood or earthquake insurance. Weekends are for relaxing and having fun, not yardwork. But the best part is the apartment neighborhood and no need for a car.

It depends on who you are, what your life situation is, and what the economics are. In Germany the majority of people rent. In Spain most own. But also, apartments aren't necessarily rentals and single family houses aren't necessarily owner occupied.

You want a garden. You don't want to rent. A lot of people don't want a garden and do want to rent. That's why so many people are clamoring to live in dense, walkable urban areas like New York and San Francisco! I love living in my rented apartment on the tenth floor!
