As I understand it `gsutil` is deprecated and you are supposed to use `gcloud storage` which mostly works as a drop-in replacement (with some performance improvements). I have switched to it without issues.

A map of Syria created by Milos Popovic, illustrating population changes from 2010 to 2020. Green areas represent population growth, pink indicates population decline, and gray marks uninhabited regions. The map reflects the effects of conflict, including displacement, migration, and demographic shifts. Data sourced from the Global Human Settlement Layer (2023).

🌍 My map reveals the devastating impact of Syria’s war on its population. Over 500,000 lives were lost, and millions were displaced, making it one of the largest refugee crises in history.

Here is how you can use open data to map population change: youtu.be/vQ_M-wv73aY

Weil es dann auch in Deutschland noch mehr PACs wie INSM gibt, durch die politische Spenden noch leichter zu verschleiern sind.

my unhelpful recommendation is Simply Don’t:

already, too much code exists. we should delete a bunch instead of trying to create more

A beautifully detailed vintage map of Europe highlighting the continent's physical geography. The map showcases mountain ranges, such as the Alps and Scandinavian ranges, in raised relief with rich brown tones, while flatter regions are depicted in lighter shades of green. Water bodies, including the North Sea and Mediterranean, are colored in soft blue. The map provides a timeless aesthetic, combining historical cartographic techniques with geographic clarity.

I had so much fun giving this vintage map of Europe a fresh twist by adding exaggerated relief! The original map comes from the David Rumsey Historical Map Collection. Want to learn how to bring old maps back to life? Check out my tutorial here: youtu.be/0HFEQU-ELKk

Constraints are Good: Python's Metadata Dilemma Some of the issues of why Python packaging is unnecessarily hard.

“The deeper lesson here is that if you give developers too much flexibility, they will inevitably push the boundaries and that can have significant downsides as we can see.”

“Python just has a metadata problem. Python's metadata system is too complex and suffers from what I would call ‘lack of constraints’.” lucumr.pocoo.org/2024/11/26/p...

So apparently there is a web-based, collaborative #GIS 🤯. Might be a game changer considering how extensive development of a GIS is and how little & cumbersome options there are especially on macOS & Linux.

#30DayMapChallenge Day 15: My data

Quick fun project: I was curious if the spare coins I had would tell much about me - where i'm from, where i live, and where I’ve traveled... So I stacked all the coins on my table and overlaid a European map, here's what it showed!
