When I first moved into my house here, it was all single pane windows. Some windows couldn't even be fully closed because they were shutter-style windows. As someone from a place where it snows, this was all quite surprising.

This is fascinating. It turns out Canada, and different US states use different elevator codes - while the rest of the world uses the same single elevator code.

As a result, elevator maintenance is 10x more expensive than rest of the world due to lack of competition.
