My nurse practitioner does them anyway because ovarian cancer risk does indeed increase with age. One of my Washington state friends had her cancer found for same reason. Her Gyn cited statistics and said we don’t want to miss anyone!

Dr and surgeon also wanted CAT scan which was initially denied but within days of the sonogram was approved. The day after surgeon saw me I had surgery. Ovarian cancer is called silent killer for a reason. Get your yearly screenings. (Th end)

There was nothing to indicate a tumor at previous year screening. So I shudder to think how invasive it could have become had I skipped this year’s exam. BTW my insurance initially denied the sonogram.It took about 3 weeks between first exam and getting sonogram! (4)

I’m a slender body weight and still a tumor that size was not detectable by myself! They also did a pelvic internal sonogram which verified what Dr found on physical exam. It also detected small tumor in uterus. Thus I received a 2A cancer stage. (2)

They do a pelvic exam : this includes internal while palpating exterior of pelvis. I had a grapefruit sized ovarian tumor that was only detected this way. Once the mass was felt my Dr ordered a CA 125 blood test. This detects tumor markers in blood. (1)
