Of course, not all business start-ups have connections or access to power/wealth. It's why micro-loans exists. Not everyone starts with a loan or investors. I'm not sure where someone like that sits in this system.

There is something about it that troubles me. I need to think about why.

I think this is self evident but if you need to work to pay for status - the house in Westchester, the "cottage" in the Hamptons, the country club membership, the kid's tuitions at private academies, the yacht - you can't claim working class until you drastically reduce your spending.

I would argue that if you need to work to pay the bills (i.e. not independently wealthy ) you are working class.

I would because I have to.

Can you afford to pay for a roof over your head, utilities, food, clothing, etc, ect without working? If the answer is yes, you aren't working class.

I believe Wisconsin offers diploma privilege to graduates of Marquette and the University of Wisconsin. The exam is not required.
