Airframe Ultra nails the style amazingly, and there are zero horror elements!

i feel like ps1 style is overused when it comes to horror. just go on itch.io and look through games with the horror tag. They're basically all in the ps1 style. I really think that the ps1 style should be used for more than just horror games, look at games like Airframe Ultra.

got started with making games with raylib yesterday and it's so far been pretty smooth! I really like it. I'm not sure what game I'll make with it, but right now i'm working on a voxel engine. IT WILL NOT BE MINECRAFT CLONE (probably)

i was having a terrible time with performance in javascript, so i decided to remake the engine in love2d. and it's going pretty well! I got fov stuff done, i got movement done, i got collision, map loading, all that juicy stuff done! however i still have no 3d projection or ray collision.

Haven’t posted about this in a long while, but here is what I currently have! the yellow lines are meant to be the raycasts, but i haven’t implemented collision detection yet. But, i can now make a map using 1s, and 0s. And also made it so the map moves instead of the player!

i actually did make the same thing in kaplay.js, however scrapped it, for the reason i said before. I had to rewrite basically ALL the code, it's just the torad function i copied over.

i was originally going to use kaboom.js for this, but it was no longer maintained. so then i tried kaplay.js, but i couldn't figure out how to set it up. so i just decided to do regular ol' javascript

made this with vanilla javascript and html. no libraries, and no frameworks. just pure javascript

Update: I thought about it, and a map in a top down game is just completely useless. So I might have to go back to that wolfenstein 3d style game idea

I had this idea where I could make a wolfenstein 3d style dungeon crawler using raycasting, and it would have this map system where you can draw your own map, with monsters, and weapons and all that. i then realized it was too ambitious

i want to make a dungeon crawler game with love2d, mainly because i feel like a fake game developer since I've never actually released a game without an engine. However, my ideas are always too ambitious.

i've been playing lots of pikmin 1 recently and now i want to make a pikmin like game but with planetary movement (like mario galaxy) but trying to correctly rotate the character is like trying to no hit the knight from deltarune. or im just stupid
