That would be an interesting tax, wouldn't it? Imagine, for a business calculating tax: determine gross turnover; subtract tax from that (SNAP payments x 3) claimed by employees; continue with regular tax calculations.
Hate it? Increase pay to exempt employees from claiming; pay less SNAP tax.

With every day that passes and with the relaxation of every constraint put on the finance industry following the 2008 debacle, we are one step closer to another crash.
An added complication: the US markets waking up to Trump's fairyland economics & governance.

UK law isn't perfect but it's pretty good for most things. It's not good enough for Isabel Oakshott though - she clearly prefers Sharia law so much, and immigrants, she's decided to be an immigrant herself and to live under it.
Who knew?
Note too - she criticises the UK govt... but not her own. Sad.

Reply to a post about the incident in Huntingdon from a US account: β€œ I cannot stress this enough to people. Carry a small canister of pepper spray and keep it accessible when you’re out in public especially trapped in a train. It’s an easy protective measure we can all take.”
Reply from me: β€œI cannot stress enough to you that pepper spray is illegal to possess, buy, or carry in the UK under the Firearms Act 1968. I strongly recommend anyone reading does not do this under any circumstances.”

Well-meaning Americans in my mentions: kindly do not recommend extremely illegal actions that could land people in the UK with a ten year prison sentence

Nigel Farage’s Reform UK and Kemi Badenoch’s Conservatives want to leave the ECHR which protects the rights of all citizens in the U.K..
These are the rights they want to take away from all of us: πŸ‘‡πŸ½πŸ‘‡πŸ½πŸ‘‡πŸ½

THIS is what I expect from every TV interview - challenge on selective & made-up arguments.

God *does* know how many times it's happened in Britain. Curiously, so do I. I claim no special insight or favour from God - everybody else in Britain knows too.
How many times?
Zero.
Maybe if I had a head full of ketamine or coke I'd think like that but my drug of choice is tea. Earl Grey, hot.

So, minimum wages are now encroaching on graduate accountancy/law starting salaries. Need to increase grad salaries - but how?
Charge stupider fees or reduce the obscene skimming off the top.
I wonder which it will be?

There are grasping, ego-centric narcissists in the continent of Europe (inc UK), determined to be bigger & better than everyone else and who will trample on whomever it takes, to 'win'.
For the other 99% of us, put away your politics and tell me what's objectionable about what you read below.

You seem to be forgetting that it's ok - as far as Conservatives are concerned - to break the law in a specific and limited way.
Just not anybody else. πŸ€”

Issue a policy.
Measure outrage.
Issue a less outrageous policy.
Measure outrage.
Repeat until outrage reaches 'acceptable' levels.
Confirm policy.
Issue another policy.
Repeat as nauseam.
What a way to run an opposition.
The Badenough way.

Good, Mr. Speaker.
I don't suppose you could disclose by party, the numbers of MPs, particularly Reform Ltd members, in attendance could you?
Just asking for millions of level-headed people around the country.
Many thanks.

You're just a tabloid hack, Mr.Peston.
I could spend hours writing a list, diverse as you like, of topics relevant to the UK and its population and of myriad events around the world. All important. You ignore all of these and choose one - racism - to attract racists. Lazy, sensationalist shite.

When you walk through a storm, Wolves fans. How about supporting your team instead of booing it? Coming back from 2-0 down is no mean feat. You lost to a very late winner and only missed out on a draw by a late, great, full-stretch stop.
The team could do with a 12th player and you are it.

If you're of the opinion that less tax, less tax, less tax is best, you also support too little prison accommodation, overstretched, inadequately trained & supervised prison staff and stupid mistakes.
If you WANT PROPER SERVICES, you HAVE TO PAY. Bleat as much as you like, you don't get owt for nowt

You need a US Confederation of Generators. Be benign to those red states who don't gerrymander, who resist ICE & the national guard on the streets (if any) and support other confederation members.

Fair point to raise, Guardian but picking it in isolation could paint the wrong picture: Let's look at the end of the last Labour govt, the Tory years and this government.
How does contract awarding pan out now? I'd be prepared to guess that Β£138m contracts to donors is a drop in the ocean.

Given that the British media are obsessed with their repertoire of four or five topics and that we never see Labour's list of acievements, why is this not promoted to death by Labour PR?!
It's a no-brainer but seems to be beyond them.
Thank you, @LaindonFeminist, for the info.

"The reason why the reactionary right hate the ECHR is because it gives ordinary citizens the right against the secretive and authoritarian state that they want."

Just a few weeks ago, the Epstein Ballroom was going to cost $200m. Now, it's going to cost $300m.
Any guesses as to its final cost?
Don't forget, 'top quality' gold (of which there will, no doubt, be acres) is getting more expensive daily.
