Did A level German (about a hundred years ago) at the same time as Schubert song cycles set work for A level music. Die Schöne Müllerin resonated so hard with my angst-ridden teenage soul! Devastating is a great word for it: wish I’d heard the performance!

I took this one in Tenerife in the summer. Two teenagers were chatting by the water for ages as the sun set.

Also love Poulenc, for the same reasons as you. I’d go for the organ concerto but I also love his choral works and miniatures like the piano nocturnes
