Why did I brave the shadows of the alley?
It was a shortcut to
Somewhere
I was hoarding spare minutes for myself

But Time waited in the dark
With faded leather coat and brass knuckles.

I fought.
God, how I fought.

It took my minutes.
It took days.
Years.

I woke up dazed

Just heard this in a leadership seminar and I really liked it. It applies to each of us:

I know the state of the world is important
The politics
The economies
Human rights
The environment

But sometimes, I have to give my attention to other matters.
What bunnies and squirrels say to each other
If deer have a favorite yard
Birdsong

I’m one of those edit-as-you-go, fools.

I do a full read through out loud looking for phrases or words that go clunk. I watch for logic/plot holes. And this is where I start adding character voices. In the first draft, they all sound like me. 🤣🤣
