Solid choice. I travelled around Iceland in a Jimny (in June 2009, when their currency was at its lowest). It was a low-cost 4-wheel option with heating (the first week of June was still a bit chilly), and it overcame all kinds of roads, including snowy overpasses.

Empirical research of Austria, Germany, Hungary & USA politicians’ illiberal policy frames:
“Narratives show no relation to markers of the underlying policy crises, which points to a political strategy based on continued fear-mongering [e.g on immigration] rather than crisis exploitation.”
🤔 Illiberal policy frames? Turns out it’s fear-mongering, not crisis-driven

14.11.2025 11:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Post by SOMO (Centre for Research on Multinational companies) of Amsterdam: 1 out of 25 participants in COP30 is a fossil fuel lobbyist. (a total of 1600 present) EU governments alone brought 84 including representatives of national energy companies like Engie and TotalEnergies. Climate policies can't be effective if they are shaped by the industry that is most responsible for climate change
Carbon action tracker global update 2025: ten years after the Paris Agreement we see little to no measurable progress in warming projections - for the fourth consecutive years. the 2035 NDCs (the national decarbonization plans) have made no difference to our warming outlook. note about NDCs, many countries omitted drafting decarbonization plans in fear of economic slowdown and competition to others not decarbonizing. that is a race to the bottom
These two are not unrelated. 🤬
People showing up for these events are complicit, plain and simple, in the ongoing damage.
Including many of my former corporate employers.
Fossil fuel policies are advanced on the largest international climate talk. cop-out continues.

The European Commission uses ChatGPT outputs in public documents.
@iccl.bsky.social has filed a complaint to the European Ombudsman as this use likely violates Commission's own guidelines and its obligation under EU treaties

Yup, integrated by segregation, red lines and economic inequalities.
Values underlying the project were rotten from the beginning; slaveholders against the British crown could not build a healthy outcome. Slave patrols lived on, liberty sacrificed for security, slight change to the underbelly.
People showing up for someone they know/care about is how a by-design disintegrated society begins to heal.

Because you made a country they want to flee.
